Bernard sugar prick (S. of Bernard, fr. physiologist, 1813-1878; synonyms: a sugar prick, Claude Bernard a sugar prick) – the experiment made on a rabbit at which after a prick in a bottom of the IV cerebral cavity, there is temporary (for 5-6 hours) a hyperglycemia and a glycosuria that is the proof of existence in a myelencephalon of the centers intended for regulation of carbohydrate metabolism.
