Bronchopulmonary segment [broncho-(bronkho-); Greek bronchos – a windpipe; the prefix designating communication with bronchial tubes; lat. segmentum – a piece, a part, from seco – I cut, I cut; segmentum bronchopulmonale – PNA (The anatomic nomenclature Parisian); synonym: a lung segment] – a part of a lung which corresponds to a branch of a pulmonary artery and a bronchial tube of the 3rd order (segmented); bronchopulmonary segments are divided by partitions from connecting fabric with the intersegmental veins lying in them; according to PNA the left lung consists from 9, and right – of 10 constant bronchopulmonary segments.
