Marsh-mallow syrup

General characteristics. Structure:

Active agent – extract of a marsh-mallow root of dry 2,0 g.

Excipients: sugar of 56,0 g, Natrium benzoicum of 0,5 g, alcohol of ethyl 96% 10,0 g (12,4 ml), the water purified to 100 g.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacokinetics. It is not investigated.

Pharmacodynamics. Means of a plant origin. Syrup on the basis of a marsh-mallow root which contains vegetable slime (to 35%), asparagine, a betaine, pectinaceous substances, starch. Renders the expectorating, softening, enveloping, antiinflammatory action. Vegetable slime cover mucous membranes with a thin layer which protects them from irritation. As a result inflammatory process decreases and the angenesis is facilitated. At impact on a mucous membrane of a stomach protective action of a film from vegetable slime of subjects is more long and more effective, than acidity of a gastric juice is higher (viscosity of vegetable slime increases at contact with hydrochloric acid).

Indications to use:

- chronic bronchitis;

- tracheitis;

- laryngitis;

- whooping cough;

- bronchial pneumonia;

- bronchial asthma;

- in complex therapy of diseases of digestive tract (gastritis, an esophagitis, a coloenteritis, a peptic ulcer of a stomach and the 12th perstny gut).

Route of administration and doses:

Drug is appointed to food: the adult on 1 tablespoon of syrup of 4-6 times a day.

Duration of a course makes 7-14 days.

Contraindications:

- hypersensitivity to drug components;

- to children to the 18th summer age;

- to pregnant women and the feeding women;

- to patients with liver diseases;

- the patient with epilepsy.

Features of use:

As an expectorant drugs of a mallow can be used in a combination from sodium bicarbonate.

With care it is necessary to appoint a sick diabetes mellitus, to the patients who are on a diet with the lowered content of carbohydrates and to the persons suffering from an alcoholism.

Influence on ability to driving of motor transport and to control of mechanisms.

During treatment it is necessary to refrain from occupations potentially dangerous activity demanding concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions.

Interaction with other medicines:

Not to apply along with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NPVS) because of strengthening of a hepatotoxic action.

Storage conditions:
