Smekta

General characteristics. Structure:

Active agent: smectite of dioctahedral 3 g

Excipients: fragrance orange - 10 mg, fragrance vanilla - 50 mg, Dextrosums monohydrate - 679 mg, sodium saccharinate - 21 mg.

Excipients: vanillin - 4 mg, Dextrosums monohydrate - 749 mg, sodium saccharinate - 7 mg.

Pharmacological properties:

Antidiarrheal drug, represents aluminosilicate of a natural origin. Has the adsorbing effect.
Stabilizes a mucous barrier of a GIT, forms polyvalent bonds with slime glycoproteins, increases amount of slime and improves its cytoprotective properties (concerning negative effect of ions of hydrogen of hydrochloric acid, bilious salts, microorganisms and their toxins).
Has the selection sorption properties which are explained by its diskoidno-crystal structure; adsorbs the bacteria which are in a gleam of a GIT, viruses.
Смекта® in therapeutic doses does not influence motility of intestines.
Diosmektit is X-ray transparent and does not paint a chair.
Aluminum as a part of a diosmektit is not soaked up from a GIT, including at the gastrointestinal diseases which are followed by symptomatology of colitis and a colonopathy.

Pharmacokinetics. Смекта® it is not absorbed. It is brought out of an organism in not changed look.

Indications to use:

— acute and chronic diarrhea (allergic, medicinal genesis; at disturbance of a diet and qualitative structure of food);
— diarrhea of infectious genesis (as a part of complex therapy);
— a symptomatic treatment of heartburn, swelling and discomfort in a stomach and other symptoms of dyspepsia accompanying diseases of bodies of a GIT.

Route of administration and doses:

Inside.
Acute diarrhea
Children, including babies: till 1 year — 2 bags/days within 3 days, then — 1 bags/days; 1 years — 4 bags/days within 3 days, then — 2 bags/days are more senior.

Adults: the recommended dosing mode — 6 bags/days.

Other indications
Children, including babies: till 1 year — 1 bags/days; 1–2 years — 1–2 bags/days; 2 years — 2–3 bags/days are more senior.
Adults: 3 bags/days.
The course of treatment within 3–7 days is recommended.
At an esophagitis the drug Smekta® should be accepted after food, at other indications — between meals.

For children contents of bags are dissolved in a children's small bottle (50 ml) and distributed on several receptions during the day or mixed with any semi-fluid product (porridge, puree, compote, baby food). For adults contents of bags are dissolved in 1/2 glasses of water, gradually pouring powder and evenly stirring it. The appointed dose is distributed on 3 receptions during the day.

Features of use:

With care to apply at patients with heavy chronic locks in the anamnesis.
At children with acute diarrhea drug should be used in a complex with measures for a regidratation.
The adult therapy by the drug Smekta® in in a complex with measures for a regidratation is appointed in case of need.
The package of measures for a regidratation is appointed depending on the course of a disease, age and features of the patient.
The interval between Smekta's reception and other medicines has to make 1-2 h.

Influence on ability to driving of motor transport and to control of mechanisms
Data are absent.

Side effects:

From the alimentary system: in clinical trials it is rare - a lock (it is poorly expressed, passed after drug dose adjustment).
Allergic reactions: in routine practice it is very rare - urticaria, rash, an itch, a Quincke's edema.

Interaction with other medicines:

At simultaneous use of Smekta® can reduce the speed and extent of absorption of other medicines. It is not recommended to accept drug along with other medicines.

Contraindications:

— intestinal impassability;
— intolerance of fructose, a syndrome of the broken glucose galactose absorption;
— insufficiency of invertase-isomaltase;
— hypersensitivity to drug components.

Use of the drug SMEKTA® at pregnancy and feeding by a breast
The drug Smekta® is allowed for use at pregnancy and in the period of a lactation according to indications. Correction of the mode of dosing is not required.

Overdose:

The expressed lock or bezoar is possible.
