Motherwort tincture

General characteristics. Structure:

Active agent – a grass of a motherwort of 5,0 g.

Excipient – alcohol of ethyl 70%.

Pharmacological properties:

The grass of a motherwort contains active agents – saponins, flavonoids, iridoida, organic acids (apple, wine, lemon, ursolovy, vanilla), tannins, glycosides, sugary substances, essential oil. Has the expressed sedative properties, and also has hypotensive and cardiotonic effect. The calming effect occurs due to strengthening of process of braking or decrease in process of excitement in the central nervous system. Does not exert somnolent impact, but facilitates approach of a physiological dream. Does not cause the phenomena of accustoming, mental dependence.

Drug possesses the calming action on a nervous system, reduces arterial pressure, normalizes action of the heart.

Indications to use:

- cardiovascular neurosises

- vegeto-vascular dystonia

- the increased emotional excitability, irritability

- neurasthenia

- the psychoadynamy and a neurasthenia which is followed by sleeplessness, feeling of tension and a hyperreactivity

- arterial hypertension (as a part of complex therapy)

Route of administration and doses:

Tincture of a motherwort is accepted inside.

The adult recommend to use 30 drops of tincture to food 3-4 times a day. Course of treatment of 20 - 30 days.

Features of use:

At emergence of side effects of tincture of a motherwort administration of drug should be stopped.

Sedation develops slowly within 3 weeks.

Drug contains alcohol!

Drug is recommended to be used with care to patients with a diabetes mellitus, a chronic liver failure and alcohol addiction.

During treatment it is necessary to be careful at control of motor transport and potentially dangerous types of activity demanding the increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Side effects:

- dyspepsia

- allergic reactions (skin rash, itch, hyperemia of a mucous membrane)

Interaction with other medicines:

Motherwort tincture strengthens effect of somnolent, sedative and analgetic medicines.

Contraindications:

- individual intolerance of components of drug

- peptic ulcer of a stomach and duodenum

- erosive gastritis

- children's and teenage age up to 18 years

- pregnancy, lactation period
