Peony tincture

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: peony tincture unusual a grass, rhizomes with roots (1:10).
Excipient: ethanol of 40%.

Transparent liquid of light brown color with a specific smell. At preservation formation of a deposit is allowed.

Tincture of a peony increases organism resistance to a hypoxia, has spasmolytic, anticonvulsant, antimicrobic properties and ability to increase acidity of a stomach.

Indications to use:

Neurosises, neurocirculatory dystonia behind hypertensive type.

Route of administration and doses:

Tincture of a peony is accepted internally in 10–15 minutes prior to meal. The adult appoint till 15-20 drops 3 times a day. Duration of a course of treatment is determined individually for each patient taking into account character, by degrees and features of a course of a disease, stability of the reached medical effect and portability of drug. The recommended treatment duration — 2 weeks, in case of need a course of treatment can be repeated after a break (in 2–3 months).

Features of use:

At prolonged use of high doses of drug it is necessary to control acidity of a stomach at patients with tendencies to its increase.

 

Use during pregnancy or feeding by a breast. Drug is not used during pregnancy or feeding by a breast through the ethanol content.

 

Ability to influence speed of response when driving by motor transport or other mechanisms. During treatment it is necessary to refrain from driving by the car and works which require special attention, bystry mental reactions.

Children. There is no experience of use of drug for children therefore this category of patients is not recommended to appoint it. 

Side effects:

Arterial hypotension, drowsiness, general weakness, and also development of allergic reactions (rashes, itch, hyperemia and cutaneous dropsy). 

Interaction with other medicines:

Drug can exponentiate action sedative, hypnagogues, tranquilizers, neuroleptics and antidepressants with sedative action.

Contraindications:

Arterial hypotension, individual intolerance of biologically active agents that are available in medicinal vegetable raw materials, the period of pregnancy and feeding by a breast, children's age.

Overdose:

At increase in the recommended doses lowering of arterial pressure, dizziness, drowsiness are observed. In case of overdose it is worth stopping administration of drug and to apply measures of a symptomatic and maintenance therapy ( according to a clinical condition of the patient).

Storage conditions:

To store at  a temperature not above 25 °C in the place, unavailable to children.
