Enterolum

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: The lyophilized Saccharomyces boulardii of 250 mg.

Excipients: Lactoses monohydrate, magnesium stearate, gelatin, titanium dioxide.

Pharmacological properties:

Saccharomyces boulardii has the antimicrobic effect caused by antagonistic effect concerning pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms: Clostridium difficile, Candida albicans, Candida kruesei, Candida pseudotropicalis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhimurium, Yersinia enterocolitica, Escherichia coli, Shigella dysenteriae, Staphylococcus aureus and others, and also Entamoeba histolitica and Lambliae. Saccharomyces boulardii possesses anti-toxin action concerning bacterial cyto - and enterotoxins, increases enzymatic function of intestines. Saccharomyces boulardii has natural resistance to antibiotics.
After administration of drug of Saccharomyces boulardii passes through a digestive tract in an invariable look without colonization. Drug is completely removed from an organism within 2-5 days after the reception termination.

Indications to use:

Treatment and prevention of diarrhea of any etiology.

Route of administration and doses:

To children from 1 to 3 years - 1 capsule twice a day within 5 days. To children of 3 years and the adult - 1-2 capsules twice a day within 7-10 days. Enterolum should be accepted in 1 hour prior to food, washing down with a small amount of liquid. It is not necessary to wash down with hot and alcoholic beverages. For juvenile children, and also in cases of the complicated swallowing, the capsule can be opened and given its contents with cold or warmish liquid. Administration of drug for treatment of acute diarrhea without fail has to be followed by a regidratation.

Features of use:

If after two days of use of Enterolum for treatment of acute diarrhea there does not occur improvement, and also at temperature increase, detection of blood or slime in fecal masses it is necessary to see the attending physician immediately. Feeling of thirst and dryness in a mouth confirm an insufficient regidratation.

Side effects:

Manifestation of individual sensitivity to drug components is in rare instances possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

Enterolum is not accepted together with antifungal drugs.

Contraindications:

- Hypersensitivity to one of components;
- Existence of the central venous catheter as exceptional cases of emergence of a fungimiya at patients with the central venous catheter in hospital conditions are described.

Pregnancy and lactation
Use of Enterolum during pregnancy or a lactation is justified if the expected advantage exceeds potential risk.
