General characteristics. Structure:

Active agents: Neomycinum sulfate of 10 mg (6 500 PIECES) of 105 mg (68 250 PIECES); polymyxin B sulfate of 10 000 PIECES 105 000 PIECES; dexamethasone metasulfosodium benzoate of 1 mg 10.5 mg

Excipients: tiomersat, citric acid, sodium hydroxide (1N solution), a macrogoal 400, polysorbate 80, the water purified.

Pharmacological properties:

The therapeutic effect of drug of Polideks is caused by antiinflammatory effect of dexamethasone and antimicrobic effect of antibiotics of Neomycinum and polymyxin B. At a combination of the specified antibiotics the range of antimicrobic action on the majority of the gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms causing infectious and inflammatory diseases of a middle ear extends.
Neomycinum is active concerning S. aureus, E. coli, K. pneumoniae, H. influenzae. Polymyxin B is active mainly concerning gram-negative bacteria: E. coli, K. pneumoniae, H. influenzae, P. aeruginosa. Streptococcus spp are steady against action of these antibiotics., including pneumococci and anaerobic bacteria.
At absence of damage of a tympanic membrane of Polideks it does not rezorbirutsya and has no systemic action.

Indications to use:

Outside otitis, in particular the infected eczema of outside acoustical pass; acute average otitis without injury of a tympanic membrane.

Route of administration and doses:

The adult — on 1–5 drops in each ear 2 times a day; to children — on 1–2 drops in each ear 2 times a day within 7 days. The average duration of treatment makes 7 days depending on character and disease severity. Before use of ear drops it is recommended to warm a bottle, having taken it in a hand, in order to avoid the unpleasant feelings caused by hit of cold liquid in an ear. Not to enter under pressure. To incline the head, to dig the necessary quantity of drops in an ear and to hold the head inclined several minutes. Thus to dig each ear.

Features of use:

Duration of treatment averages 7 days. If symptoms of a disease do not disappear after a 10-day course of treatment, it is necessary to reconsider the strategy of therapy. It is necessary to consider official recommendations of relative use of antibiotics. Athletes should be warned that this medicine contains active agent (dexamethasone) which can give positive reaction during a drug test. During use it is necessary to avoid a touch of a tip of a dropper both to fingers, and to an ear to reduce risk of infection. It is not recommended to use drug along with any other therapeutic means for topical administration. Before an initiation of treatment it is necessary to conduct a research of a condition of a tympanic membrane. At disturbance of integrity of a tympanic membrane use of drug is inadmissible as serious complications are possible (deafness, balance disturbance). Existence of GKS does not influence manifestations of skin allergic reactions to antibiotics, but can change a clinical picture of allergic reaction. At an allergy to Neomycinum the cross allergy to other antibiotics aminoglycosides is possible. Topical administration of antibacterial drugs can serve as the sensitization reason to active agents and lead to system reactions. It is necessary to stop immediately drug use if arose rash on skin or other system manifestations of allergic reactions.
Use during pregnancy and feeding by a breast. It is improbable that drug will get into the blood circulatory system if integrity of a tympanic membrane is not affected.
Use of drug during pregnancy and feeding by a breast is admissible if the expected positive effect for mother exceeds potential risk for the fruit/child.
Children. It is applied on doctor's orders to treatment of children without age restrictions.
Ability to influence speed of response at control of vehicles or work with other mechanisms. Does not influence.

Side effects:

Local skin allergic reactions are in certain cases possible. Allergic reactions at topical administration of Neomycinum can be shown in the form of eczema with reddening, a peeling, hypostasis, an itch, skin rash.
In case of disturbance of integrity of a tympanic membrane — risk of toxic influence on acoustical (decrease in hearing) and vestibular (dizziness, balance disturbance) devices (see. Special INSTRUCTIONS).
As drug contains тиомерсаль, there is a risk of contact dermatitis, allergic reaction and irritation of skin.
Formation of resistant microorganisms and development of fungal infections is possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

It is not necessary to accept drug along with any other therapeutic medicines for topical administration.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity (allergy) to any of drug components, in particular to antibacterial components which are a part of drug, or to other aminoglycosides; infectious or mechanical injuries of a tympanic membrane; existence of a viral, fungal and tuberculosis infection in the external acoustical channel.

Overdose:

Cases of overdose are not described.

100 ml of ear drops contain Neomycinum of sulfate 1 g that corresponds to 650000 PIECES, polymyxin B of sulfate of 1000000 PIECES and dexamethasone of sodium of metasulfobenzoate of 100 mg; in bottles with a pipette of 10,5 ml.
