General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: Nonoksinol-9 - 120 mg
Excipients: lactic acid of 12 mg of a suppozitorny basis of poly(ethylene oxide) (4000/1000) enough to 1200 mg

Description. White or slightly transparent, homogeneous suppositories in the form of the torpedo, on a cut noticeable units, inodorous are not visible.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Nonoksinol is neiononogenny surface-active connection.
Spermicidal action is caused by fragmentation and decrease in mobility of spermatozoa. Has bactericidal activity concerning gonokokk and chlamydias (Chlamydia trachomatis), reduces risk of development of diseases, sexually transmitted: gonorrhea and vaginal clamidiosis. In vitro shows activity concerning HIV infection (however, reduction of risk of infection of HIV when using a nonoksinol in combination with other protective measures is not proved or without them).
Components of suppositories do not influence vagina flora. Lactic acid has favorable effect on microflora and mucous vaginas.
When using suppository ноноксинол mixes up approximately from 2 ml of a vaginal secret and 5 ml of semen. At a dose of a nonoksinol of 120 mg its concentration in an ejaculate averages the size of 1,7%, and at large volumes of an ejaculate - it is not lower than 1% that it is enough for manifestation of spermicidal activity.
Spermicidal effect of suppositories becomes more active after dissolution of a suppozitorny basis at body temperature in 10 minutes after introduction and no more than 2 hours proceed.

Pharmacokinetics. Data on pharmacokinetics of a nonoksinol at the person are absent.

Indications to use:

Local contraception.

Route of administration and doses:

Suppository is entered into a vagina as it is possible more deeply, not less than in 10 min. and not earlier than in 1 hour prior to sexual intercourse. At repeated sexual intercourse it is necessary to enter new suppository and to sustain not less than 10 min. After sexual intercourse during 6 h the vagina toilet in order to avoid loss is not recommended to have contraceptive effect.

Features of use:

At emergence of an itch use of drug should be stopped.
At frequent use of suppositories, the probability of manifestation of side effects increases.
Use in combination with condom is possible.
In case of fusion of suppository because of an accidental overheat it can be used after hardening in the refrigerator again.

Side effects:

Seldom - dermatitis, burning of a vagina or penis, an itch.
The irritation passes without acceptance of special measures.

Interaction with other medicines:

Because of possible decrease in spermicidal activity, Nonoksinol is not recommended to use drug with other drugs intended for intravaginalny introduction.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to drug components, an erosion of a neck of uterus, a salpingo-oophoritis, a colpitis, a vaginitis, the anatomic features of a vagina complicating drug use.

Storage conditions:

In original packaging at a temperature not above 25 °C in the place, unavailable to children. Period of storage 3 years. Not to use drug after the period of validity specified on packaging.
