Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacological Artifleks - the drug influencing exchange in cartilaginous tissue. A glycosamine sulfate represents salt natural to the glycosamine aminomonosaccharide with a low molecular weight which is carefully cleared of macromolecular components. Drug fills endogenous shortage of a glycosamine, stimulates synthesis of proteoglycans of hyaluronic acid of synovial fluid. Increases permeability of the joint capsule, recovers enzymatic processes and cells of a synovial membrane and a joint cartilage. Antiinflammatory action of a glycosamine of sulfate is caused by blocking of formation of superoxidic radicals macrophages and inhibition of lizosomalny enzymes. Drug promotes fixing of sulfur in the course of synthesis of a hondroitinosirchanoa of acid, facilitates normal adjournment of calcium in a bone tissue. Slows down development of degenerative processes in joints, recovers their function, reducing a joint pain. Sulfates also participate in synthesis of glucosaminoglycans and metabolism of tissue of cartilage. Sulphatic ethers of side chains as a part of proteoglycans are of great importance for maintenance of elasticity and ability to hold cartilage matrix water. Reduction of clinical symptoms is shown usually in 2 weeks from an initiation of treatment with preservation of clinical improvement within 8 weeks after drug withdrawal.

Pharmacokinetics. A glycosamine sulfate is quickly and completely soaked up in a small intestine (90%). Easily passes through biological barriers and gets into fabrics, preferential joint cartilage. An elimination half-life - 68 hours.

Indications to use:

Treatment of an osteoarthritis and/or its symptoms, that is pain and functional restriction.

Route of administration and doses:

Accept inside.

Adult patients and patients of advanced age: contents of one package, equivalent 1,5 g of a glycosamine of sulfate to dissolve in a glass of water and to accept 1 time a day, it is desirable during food. A course of treatment - 4 - 12 weeks or longer (if necessary). On doctor's orders it is possible to repeat treatment 2 - 3 times a year at an interval of the 2nd month, and also at a disease recurrence.

Features of use:

As the glycosamine is received from an armor of mollusks, the patients having an allergy on mollusks have to take Artifleks with caution.

Powder for oral administration contains sorbite. To patients, have the rare hereditary form of intolerance of fructose, drug in this dosage form is not recommended to be used.

The patients who are on a diet with the controlled content of sodium need to take into account availability of sodium in a dosage form for oral administration (151 mg in one dose on 1500 mg).

In an initiation of treatment for the patients sick with a diabetes mellitus, it is reasonable to carry out control of level of sugar to blood.

To patients with a heavy liver or renal failure drug is appointed only under observation of the doctor.

Sick to fenilketonuriy Artifleks it is contraindicated as this drug contains aspartame.

Ability to influence speed of response at control of motor transport or other mechanisms.

Side effects:

From skin: hair loss.

Interaction with other medicines:

Strengthening of effect of coumarinic anticoagulants was noted. In this regard it is reasonable to patients to carry out control of parameters of coagulation.

Strengthening of gastrointestinal absorption of tetracycline is possible. Drug is compatible to NPVP and GKS.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to a glycosamine of sulfate and to other components of drug. Fenilketonuriya. Period of pregnancy and feeding by a breast.

Overdose:

Cases of overdose were not noted. Does not show toxicity even at considerable overdose.

At accidental overdose the gastric lavage and symptomatic therapy is appointed.
