Pertussinum

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredients: 100 g of drug contain a thyme of extract of liquid (1:1) 12 g, Kalii bromidum of 1 g;
excipients: syrup sugar, ethanol of 80%.

Pharmacological properties:

Pertussinum stimulates expectoration (sekretomotorny action), softens cough and shows sedative action. Drug stimulates physiological activity of a ciliary epithelium and the peristaltic movements of bronchioles, promoting movement of a phlegm from the respiratory tracts, lower in upper parts, and to its removal.

Indications to use:

Cough at tracheitises, bronchitis, pneumonia, whooping cough, inflammatory diseases of upper respiratory tracts.

Route of administration and doses:

Pertussinum is appointed inside. To children under 6 years on 2,5 – 5 ml of drug (½ - 1 teaspoon) previously dissolved in 20 ml (2 dessertspoons) of the cooled prokipyachenny water, 3 times a day. To children aged from 6 up to 12 years on 10 - 15 ml (1 dessert or 1 tablespoon) 3 times in
days. The adult – on 15 ml (1 tablespoon) 3 times a day. Duration of treatment is defined individually.

Features of use:

Sick diabetes mellitus before use of drug obligatory consultation of the doctor is necessary.
Use during pregnancy or feeding by a breast. In І a pregnancy trimester drug is contraindicated. In ІІ and ІІІ trimesters apply advantage/risk which is defined by the doctor taking into account a ratio. For the period of treatment it is necessary to stop feeding by a breast. Ability to influence speed of response at control of motor transport or work with other mechanisms. Because drug contains alcohol, patients should show care when driving by motor transport or work with other mechanisms. Children. Apply to children aged from 3 years on doctor's orders.

Side effects:

At prolonged use the bromism phenomena are possible: allergic reactions, skin rash, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, gastroenterocolitis, general weakness, ataxy, bradycardia. Allergic reactions to drug components are possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

Contraindications:

Individual hypersensitivity to drug components, including bromides; a decompensation of cardiovascular system, arterial hypotension, the expressed atherosclerosis, anemia, diseases of kidneys, a diabetes mellitus, alcoholism. І trimester of pregnancy and period of feeding by a breast. Children's age to 3
years. Appropriate actions of safety at use. At use of drug it is necessary to adhere to the recommended doses.

Overdose:

At overdose strengthenings of side effects are possible. Symptomatic treatment.

Storage conditions:

Period of validity. 4 years. To store in the unavailable to children, protected from light place at a temperature from 8 ºС to 15 ºС.
