Azitral

Azitral is an antibiotic with the broad spectrum of activity which is a part of group of macroleads. Has bactericidal effect in the infection center.

Form of release and structure

Form of release of Azitral:

• Capsules on 250 mg, in a blister strip packaging (6 capsules), a pack cardboard;
• Capsules on 500 mg, in a blister strip packaging (3 capsules), a pack cardboard.

Represents white powder, it is packaged in the solid gelatin capsules consisting of the case and a lid of white color.

One capsule of Azitral contains 250 or 500 mg of azithromycin in the form of a dihydrate; and as excipients: lactose anhydrous, sodium lauryl sulfate, titanium dioxide, magnesium stearate, corn starch, the water purified propylparaben, methylparaben, gelatin.

Active ingredient of Azitral, azithromycin, it is highly active at interaction with gram-positive cocci, streptococci, some gram-negative bacteria, groups of anaerobic microorganisms; it is also active concerning some types of mycoplasmas, ureaplasmas, chlamydias, treponemas and boreliya.

Indications to use

Indications to Azitral's use, according to the instruction, are the diseases of infectious and inflammatory character caused by bacteria, sensitive to medicine:

• Inflammatory diseases of upper respiratory tracts (sinusitis, quinsy, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, etc.);
• Inflammatory diseases of the lower respiratory tracts (atypical and bacterial pneumonia, bronchitis);
• Scarlet fever;
• Infections of soft tissues and skin (impetigo, ugly face for the second time infected a dermatosis);
• Infectious defeats of an urogenital zone (cervicitis or gonorrheal urethritis);
• Peptic ulcer of a stomach;
• Lyme's disease (initial stage).

Contraindications

The main contraindications to Azitral's reception are:

• Liver failure;
• Renal failure;
• Pregnancy;
• Breastfeeding;
• Age of the child up to 12 months;
• Hypersensitivity to this medicine or to other macroleads.

Route of administration and dosage

Azithromycin keeps the bactericidal action in the inflammation center for 5-7 days upon termination of reception of the last dose. This fact allows to make a course of treatment this drug short – 3 or 5 days.

Azitral 500 mg are appointed usually a course in three days, on one tablet once a day. The pill should be taken or in one hour prior to food, or in two hours later.

If the patient passed time, then it is necessary to take medicine as soon as possible, and after to recover a time interval at 24 o'clock.

The standard children's dosage of drug is calculated on the mass of the child – a daily dose of 10 mg/kg of medicinal substance, course – 30 mg/kg.

In each individual case only the attending physician appoints a dose and paints a course of administration of drug.

Side effects

Azitral's use can cause the following side effects:

• Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, meteorism – from the alimentary system;
• Thorax pain, heartbeat – from cardiovascular system;
• Dizziness, headache, uneasiness, sleep disorder – from TsNS;
• Vaginal candidiasis, nephrite – from urinogenital system;
• Numerous allergic reactions.

During overdose by drug Azitral, according to the instruction, the following side effects can appear: vomiting, nausea, temporary hearing loss. Their emergence demands purpose of symptomatic therapy.

Special instructions

Carefully the people having arrhythmia should treat Azitral's appointment.

During pregnancy drug is used only when the risk from use of azithromycin is less, than risk of development of dangerous effects of the available disease.

After Azitral's reception 500 mg, it should be taken into account emergence of allergic reactions.

Terms and storage conditions

Capsules Azitral are released in drugstores only according to the recipe of the doctor. It is desirable to store drug in the place, dry, unavailable to children, with air temperature it is not above 25 °C.

The maximum period of validity of Azitral – 3 years.
