Description:


Vilms's tumor is an embryonal mesoblastic nephroma of a kidney. It meets preferential at children's age and is rather often combined with malformations of other bodies and systems. The tumor in the form of a node can be found in any part of a kidney, quickly enough grows and has big tendency to innidiation that occurs when involving in tumoral process of vessels of a kidney on which there is dissimination.


Symptoms of the Tumour of Vilms:


As well as in case of kidney cancer, any symptoms of a disease at early stages can be absent. Usually there are not clear abdominal pains, the tumor in a stomach at survey and a palpation (palpation) of the child can be found. Weakness, an indisposition, appetite loss, pallor of skin is observed (owing to anemia), unjustly increased temperature, increase in arterial pressure is possible. At late stages there are constant pains, ascites (a pot-belly owing to accumulation of liquid in it because of displacement of the lower vena cava), puffiness of extremities, to the varikotsela (a varicosity of a seed cord).

The tumor quickly enough metastasizes. At first in the next lymph nodes, then in lungs, a liver and other bodies.


Reasons of the Tumour of Vilms:


Vilms's tumor is a consequence of disturbance of normal embryonic development of fabrics that leads both to formation of a tumor, and to emergence of other anomalies.


Treatment of the Tumour of Vilms:


The best results are yielded by a combination of operational, beam and chemotherapeutic methods.

Surgical treatment usually comes down to removal of the affected kidney, and also single metastasises of a tumor in other bodies at their identification.

Radiation therapy is most often carried out after an operative measure, but can be carried out also by two courses – before operation. At impossibility of performing surgery radiation therapy is used independently or with a combination to chemotherapy.

The polychemotherapy can be also used before surgical treatment, and also as an independent method.

The forecast of a disease depends on degree of a zlokachestvennost of a tumor, a stage (existence of metastasises), age of the patient. The age of the child is less, the forecast of survival is better. So, at children about one year survival reaches 90% while after 5 years survival less than 50%.
