Balsam linimentum (according to Vishnevsky)

General characteristics. Structure:

Main physical and chemical properties: linimentum from light yellow till brown color or to brown with a greenish or bluish shade with a specific smell; structure: 100 g of linimentum contain: tar birch – 3 g, a xeroform – 3 g; excipients: aerosil, castor oil.

Pharmacological properties:

Linimentum according to A. V. Vishnevsky has antiseptic properties. Has the weak irritating, antiinflammatory effect on receptors of fabrics, promotes acceleration of process of regeneration of epidermis, normalizing blood circulation of fabrics.

Indications to use:

Apply at treatment of abscesses, furuncles, decubituses, lymphadenites, lymphangitis, burns.

Route of administration and doses:

Apply outwardly: apply 2-3 times a day with a thin layer on affected areas of skin or apply the bandage in 5 - 6 layers of a gauze moistened with drug. The bandage is fixed.

Features of use:

It is necessary to use with care drug to persons with hypersensitivity to phenol and its derivatives.

Side effects:

At prolonged use the irritation of skin in the form of rash, an itch is possible.

Interaction with other medicines is not described.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to drug components.

Overdose:

At prolonged use manifestations of local allergic reaction (rashes, an itch) are possible that demands performing the desensibilizing therapy.
