Nurse

The nurse is the health worker having secondary vocational education and belonging to paramedical staff. She is the important medical assistant in any treatment and prevention facility. Implementation of sisterly process and performance of medical appointments belongs to duties of the nurse.

Positions of nurses

Nurses depending on a profile of the performed work are divided:

• The chief nurse – has the higher medical education got at faculty of the higher sisterly education of medical schools. It controls work of younger and paramedical staff.
• The senior nurse – is the chief assistant to the manager of department in the solution of administrative and economic matters. Control of work of an average and junior medical staff of department belongs to its duties.
• On point duty or the charge nurse – makes observation of a condition of patients and carries out behind them leaving, and also carries out appointments of the ward doctor. Feeding of bed patients also is the nurse's duty.
• The procedural nurse – on doctor's orders carries out intravenous injections and injections, takes a venous blood for laboratory researches, assists the doctor when performing medical manipulations.
• The scrub nurse – prepares linen, tools, a suture and dressing material for operation. Is responsible for observance of an asepsis and antiseptics in the operating room. Helps surgeons when performing surgery.

According to duty regulations the nurse has the right not only to give orders to nurses, bartenders, the matron, but also to control their performance.

Duties of the senior nurse

Purity and cosiness in department, style of work of an average and junior medical staff, culture of service of patients in many respects depend on work of the senior nurse. Belongs to its functions:

• Implementation of rational arrangement and use of younger and paramedical staff, drawing up schedules of watches and issues;
• Providing an accurate rhythm of work of procedural and dressing offices;
• Observance control by the employees of labor discipline who are under its supervision, timeliness of performance of medical appointments;
• Maintaining accounting of use and expenditure of a dressing material, bacterial drugs, medicines and medical tools;
• Implementation of the account and storage of strong and narcotic drugs;
• Maintaining medical documentation;
• Assistance to implementation of the scientific organization of work;
• Drawing up plans of professional development of nurses of department, organization and control of their performance.

Duty regulations of the nurse

Belong to functions of the nurse:

• Implementation of all stages of sisterly process. Here carrying out primary assessment of the state of health of the patient, interpretation of the obtained data, scheduling of individual care and assessment of the achieved result belongs.
• High-quality and timely implementation of all medical and diagnostic and preventive procedures appointed by the doctor.
• The help to the doctor when carrying out by him small operations or medical and diagnostic manipulations in conditions both a hospital, and out-patient clinic.
• Rendering pre-medical acute management at accidents, accidents and acute diseases with the subsequent direction of the patient in treatment and prevention facility or a call of the doctor to it.
• Independent administration of medicines at an acute anaphylaxis or at other life-threatening states in case of impossibility of timely arrival of the doctor. Special instructions for nurses in detail describe an order of their actions in extreme situations.
• The message to the manager of department, ward or to the doctor on duty about all complications at the patients arising when carrying out medical manipulations.
