Motilium – drug for treatment of gastrointestinal diseases

Pharmacological action

Motilium is a stimulator of an intestinal vermicular movement, has antiemetic effect.

Active agent of Motilium – домперидон to which action of some neuroleptics is peculiar, but unlike them he does not cause extrapyramidal side effects (parkinsonism, dystonia, a tremor, a chorea, an athetosis, an akathisia, a tic, a myoclonia, a stereotypy). It is also established what домперидон strengthens release of prolactin (the peptide hormone stimulating production of milk).

Motilium increases a tone and pressure upon a sphincter of the lower part of a gullet. Drug of influence does not render on development of a gastric juice.

Release form

Usual, lingvalny (for a rassasyvaniye), suspension Motilium release tablets.

Indications to Motilium's use

Motilium according to the instruction appoint at: the dispeptic frustration caused by slow gastric emptying, a reflux gastroesophagal, an esophagitis (vomiting, a meteorism, feeling of overflow and swelling, an eructation, heartburn, nausea, pains in epigastriums), at nausea, the vomiting provoked by use of agonists of a dopamine by the patients having Parkinson's disease (for example, the Levodopa, Bromocriptinum), at nausea and vomiting of an organic, infectious, functional origin, nausea and vomiting the caused radiotheraphy, disturbance of a diet, medicinal therapy.

Motilium for children – is effective at vomiting cyclic, a vomiting syndrome, a reflux gastroesophagal, other disturbances of gastric motility at children.

Contraindications

Motilium according to the instruction do not apply at: perforation of a GIT, its impassability of mechanical character, at the tumor of a hypophysis producing prolactin at bleedings gastrointestinal, at hypersensitivity to acting, and to drug excipients.

According to the specified indications Motilium it is impossible to apply along with ketokonazoly, erythromycin, vorikonazoly, flukonazoly, Amiodaronum, klaritromitsiny, telitromitsiny.

During a lactation, pregnancies do not recommend to use drug.

Application instruction of Motilium

Motilium for children weighing 35 kg and appoint in the form of tablets in a cover more.

Hypoglossal tablets Motilium according to the indications specified in the instruction give only to children after 5 l, adult.

Suspension Motilium is shown to children to 5 l.

Motilium according to the indication dispeptic frustration, children and adults accept for 15-30min to food on 10 mg three р / days. An admissible dose – 80mg/days. To children after 12 l, adult it is authorized to double a dosage if it is necessary.

Suspension Motilium is accepted from calculation 2,5ml on 10 kg of weight of the child. It is possible to double a dosage only for children after a year. An admissible dosage – 2,4мг/кг/сут, but not above 80mg/days.

For treatment of vomiting and nausea to adults, children after 12 l. Motilium according to the instruction appoint to accept of 20 mg 3-4r/days before meal, a dream. An admissible dose – 80mg/days. To children 5-12l. give 10 mg 3-4r/days. The dosage of suspension is calculated so: 5ml/10kg weight, accept to food, before going to bed (3-4r/days). The admissible dose – 2,4мг/кг/сут, is no more than 80 mg.

Motilium's use to patients with a renal failure is shown to carry out with more long time intervals. It is not necessary to adjust a dosage. If repeated appointment, frequency rate of use is necessary Motilium decreases to 1-2r/days, at the same time the dosage can be also reduced.

Side effects

Motilium can cause an amenorrhea, a giperprolaktinemiya (a disease at which prolactin level increases), a gynecomastia, reversible extrapyramidal pathologies in children (pass after cancellation of means), disorder of activity of a GIT, spastic intestinal reductions, allergic reactions.

About one year Motilium can cause disturbances of neurologic character in children.

The overdose of means can cause a disorientation, drowsiness, extrapyramidal frustration (most often arise at children). For treatment of extrapyramidal disturbances anticholinergics, drugs for treatment of a disease of Parkinson can be appointed.
