Anabiosis

Anabiosis (Greek anabiosis – revival, from Greek ana-(prefix) – returnable action, action strengthening, the movement up + Greek biosis – life) – a condition of an organism which is characterized by almost complete cessation of life activity having reversible character in the absence of visible external manifestations of life. At the lowest animals anabiosis arises as adaptive reaction.
