Association

The association (Latin of associo, associatum – to attach) – in psychology a form of communication of the mental phenomena (concepts, images, representations, thoughts, feelings); it is characterized by the fact that emergence of one of them serves as an incentive for emergence of others (another); a physiological basis of association is temporary nervous communication.

Allocate:

  • The association on contiguity – arises on the basis of contiguity of the corresponding objects in space or time (smoke – fire, the sea – the coast, etc.);
  • The association on similarity – evolves from external similarity of the corresponding objects (an eagle – the airplane).
