Biotope

Biotope (Greek bios – life, belonging to life, to vital processes + Greek topos – the place, the area) – the site of the water area or the territory occupied by some set of live organisms different from adjacent sites and which is characterized by uniformity of the abiotic components entering it (a microclimate, a geological structure, a relief, a water relationships, a soil cover and so forth).
