Boyd-Novgorod dysenteric bacteria (historical; J. S. To. Boyd, the English bacteriologist, was born in 1889; E. M. Novgorodskaya, the Soviet microbiologist, was born in 1901) – for the first time the strains of shigellas of subspecies of Boyd described in 1943 in the USSR.
