Burdenko operation

Burdenko operation (N. N. Burdenko, Soviet surgeon, 1876-1946):

  1. The surgery applied at damage of a brachial plexus during which carry out imposing of an anastomosis between a median or musculocutaneous and phrenic nerve;
  2. The emergency amputation of an extremity applied at a mephitic gangrene in severe forms, which is carried out with bandaging of vessels on the site of crossing of a bone without applying a tourniquet and with leaving of an open wound;
  3. Amputation of an extremity at which carry out (for prevention of postoperative pains) a careful hemostasis of vascular network of nerves in combination with processing of 96% alcohol or 5% nerve stump formalin solution.
