Virology

Virology (Latin virus – poison + Greek logos – science, the doctrine) – the medicobiological science which is engaged in studying of viruses, their biochemistry, a structure, genetics, a systematics, and also value in human life.

Types of virology:

  • Sanitary – the section of virology developing ways of detection of opportunistic and pathogenic viruses in the environment, preferential in air, the soil, water and in foodstuff;
  • Sanitary and food – the section of virology studying the viruses which are present at foodstuff and also their impact on a human body.
