Prolapse of the umbilical cord (river of funiculi umbilicalis) – the complication during childbirth consisting in an umbilical cord arrangement at the streamed amniotic waters ahead of the prelying part of a fruit; the prolapse of the umbilical cord poses threat for death of a fruit.
