Description:
Lipidemia (giperlipoproteinemiya, dislipidemiya) — abnormally increased level of lipids and/or lipoproteins in blood of the person. Disturbance of lipid metabolism and lipoproteins meets quite often in the general population. The lipidemia is important risk factor of development of cardiovascular diseases generally in connection with considerable influence of cholesterol on development of atherosclerosis. Besides, some lipidemias influence development of acute pancreatitis.
Lipidemia symptoms:
The lipidemia in itself is not shown in any way. It is possible to diagnose it only by means of biochemical analysis of blood. However under the corresponding conditions the lipidemia leads to development of atherosclerosis which in turn has various manifestations, depending on localization of atherosclerotic plaques.
Lipidemia reasons:
In the majority the lipidemia is a consequence of a way of life, a usual diet or the accepted drugs. Obesity, smoking and a slow-moving way of life belongs to factors of a way of life. Emergence of a lipidemia is influenced by existence of a diabetes mellitus, a disease of kidneys, pregnancy and the lowered function of a thyroid gland. The lipidemia can be also hereditary disease. In this situation the patient can have normal weight, from a lipidemia also his relatives suffer. The risk of a lipidemia increases with age, at men is after 45 years, and at women is after 55 years. If your close relative has a disease - hearts the father or the brother is aged younger than 55 years, either mother or the sister is aged younger than 65 years, then and you have a high risk of developing of a heart disease.
Treatment of the Lipidemia:
Treatment of a lipidemia depends on the level of lipids in blood, the available risk of development of heart diseases and the general state of health.
Main objective of treatment of a lipidemia is decrease in level of "bad cholesterol" - lipoproteins of low density. At the beginning of the carried-out treatment the doctor can advise to change a usual way of life:
* observance of a diet: to avoid fat dishes
* occupation physical exercises
* normalization of high blood pressure
* refusal of smoking
If these actions do not help to reduce the LPNP level in blood, or the doctor considers that the patient has a high risk of development of atherosclerosis and heart diseases, there is a question of need of use of drug treatment. Most often candidates for drug treatment are men 35 years and women in the period of a menopause are more senior.
The drugs reducing the level of lipids in blood:
* statines – their action is connected with the fact that they prevent formation of cholesterol in a liver
* the drugs connecting bile acids
* fibrata
* Niacinum (B5 vitamin)
