OIL OF SEEDS OF PUMPKIN

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: oil of seeds of pumpkin.

Main physical and chemical properties: transparent liquid from light yellow till greenish-brown color with a characteristic smell.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Drug contains a complex of biologically active agents of seeds of pumpkin (carotinoids, tokoferola, phospholipids, phosphatides, flavonoids, _{B1, B2, C, P, PP, F vitamins}, unsaturated fatty acids - palmitic, stearin, olein, linolenic, linoleic, arachidonic) that causes its hepatoprotective, antioxidant, antisclerous, antiinflammatory, cholagogue action. Thanks to phosphatidylsincaline which activates enzyme lecithin – to a holesterinatsetiltransferaz drug transfers free cholesterol to cholesterol ethers which do not take part in development of atherosclerosis. Besides, phosphatidylsincaline is included lipoproteins of high density that promotes acceleration of transport of cholesterol in membranes of an endothelium and thrombocytes, prevents aggregation of the last. Unsaturated fatty acids slow down absorption of cholesterol and facilitate excretion of fatty acids. Drug improves a functional condition of biliary tract, changes chemical composition of bile, possesses insignificant bile-excreting action, reduces inflammatory processes in an epithelium of zhelchevydelitelny system. Drug reduces hypostases and improves microcirculation and epithelization, possesses tire-tread action on granulation, stimulates trophic and exchange processes in fabrics. Possesses anti-hypertensive action, oppresses proliferation of cells of a prostate at its benign hyperplasia, reduces expressiveness of inflammatory processes, shows insignificant bacteriostatic properties.    

Pharmacokinetics. It was not studied.

Indications to use:

Prevention of atherosclerosis of vessels of a brain, heart, lipidemia of IIA and IIV of type, prevention and treatment of a benign hyperplasia of a prostate of I and II stages, liver disease (in complex treatment of chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis, fatty dystrophy of a liver, a cholestasia, cholelithiasis).

Route of administration and doses:

Drug is used both in the form of monotherapy, and as a part of complex therapy. For prevention of lipidemias adults accept on 1 teaspoon of drug 2 times a day, usually - within 2 months. Then - on ½ teaspoons 2 times a day. Duration of treatment averages 6 months. At a prostate hyperplasia drug is accepted on 1 teaspoon by 2 times a day within 4-5 weeks, then – on ½ teaspoons once a day. Duration of treatment is determined by the doctor (usually – 5 months).

Features of use:

Drug is not recommended to be accepted the patient in the period of an aggravation of a peptic ulcer of a stomach and a duodenum, gastritis, an esophagitis, a duodenitis, colitis and other diseases of a mucous membrane of a digestive tract.

As a result of moderate protivotrombotichesky action drug with care should be used to patients with hemophilia or other forms of hemorrhagic diathesis, and also to patients who accept anticoagulants. During drug use such patients should carry out laboratory control of parameters of blood through certain intervals (each 2-3 months). It is recommended to stop drug use at least in 4 days prior to operation or other surgical intervention.

If drug is used for a symptomatic treatment of a high-quality prostatauxe, it is regularly necessary to control a condition of a prostate (each 2-3 months). Drug can facilitate the symptoms caused by increase in a prostate, but does not influence its sizes.

Side effects:

At long use diarrhea is possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

Antiacid means, blockers _{of H2-histamine} receptors, ^{H+,K+ inhibitors} - a proton pomp and drugs of bismuth reduce absorption and efficiency of effect of drug.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to drug. Peptic ulcer of a stomach and duodenum. Reception of antiacid means.

Overdose:

Diarrhea. At emergence of such symptom reduce a dose or stop administration of drug.

Storage conditions:

To store in the place protected from light at a temperature from 8 °C to 15 °C.
