Korvaldin

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredients: acid a-bromizovalerianovoy ethyl ether, phenobarbital, mints oil, hop oil;

1 ml of solution (26 drops) contains acid a-bromizovalerianovoy ethyl ether in terms of 100% substance of 20 mg, phenobarbital of 18 mg, mints of oil of 1,4 mg, oils of hop of 0,2 mg;

excipients: the stabilizer, ethanol (96%), the water purified.

Pharmacological properties:

Somnolent and sedative drugs. The combined drugs of barbiturates. Code of automatic telephone exchange N05C B02.

Корвалдин® - the calming and spasmolytic drug which effect is defined by the components which are its part.

Ethyl ether of α-bromizovalerianovy acid renders the sedative and spasmolytic effects caused by irritation of receptors of an oral cavity and a nasopharynx, decrease in reflex irritability in the central parts of the nervous system and strengthening of braking in neurons of bark and subcrustal structures of a brain and also decrease of the activity of vasomotor centers and direct local spasmolytic action on smooth muscles of vessels.

Phenobarbital oppresses exciting action of the centers of a reticular formation on bark of big cerebral hemispheres. The calming, tranquilizing and somnolent effects depend on a drug dose.

Oil of mint and oil of hop have reflex vasodilating and spasmolytic effect, irritating "cold" receptors of an oral cavity, have cholagogue and spasmolytic effect and eliminate the meteorism phenomena.

Alcohol strengthens effects of each of components.

Корвалдин® - a calmative which can be applied in a condition of excitement, fear, nervousness, disbalance and alarm; favorably affects activity of the overloaded and excited heart; it is well transferred by an organism if to adhere to the doses appointed by the doctor. Administration of drug reduces excitement of the central nervous system and facilitates approach of a dream.

Корвалдин® reduces the general arterial pressure, reduces and prevents vasospasms, preferential vessels of heart and brain.

Indications to use:

Neurosises with an acrimony;
sleeplessness;
in complex therapy of an idiopathic hypertensia and vegeto-vascular dystonia;
unsharply expressed spasms of coronary vessels, tachycardia;
enterospasms (as spasmolytic drug).

Route of administration and doses:

Accept inside before food till 15-30 of drops with a small amount (30-50 ml) of liquid 2-3 times a day. The single dose if necessary can be increased till 40-50 drops.

Duration of use of drug is established by the doctor depending on clinical effect and portability of drug.

Features of use:

Use during pregnancy and feeding by a breast. Not to apply during pregnancy and during feeding by a breast.

Ability to influence speed of response at control of motor transport or work with other mechanisms. Contains 62 about. alcohol %, and also phenobarbital which can cause a lack of coordination and speeds of psychomotor reactions therefore at administration of drug it is necessary to refrain from work with mechanisms and driving of the car.

Children. Experience of use of treatment of children is absent.

Side effects:

Корвалдин®, as a rule, it is well transferred. In some cases side effects can be observed:

from a digestive tract: discomfort in a stomach and intestines, nausea;

from a nervous system: drowsiness, slight dizziness, decrease in concentration of attention;

from immune system: allergic reactions;

from cardiovascular system: delay of a cordial rhythm.

These phenomena are eliminated with reduction of a dose.

At prolonged use emergence of dependence on drug and the phenomenon of a bromism is possible. Symptoms: oppression of the central nervous system, depression, apathy, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, acne, hemorrhagic diathesis, lack of coordination, confusion of consciousness.

Interaction with other medicines:

Drugs which exert the oppressing impact on the central nervous system strengthen action of Korvaldina®. Existence in composition of drug of phenobarbital can induce liver enzymes therefore it is undesirable to apply it together with drugs which are metabolized in a liver (coumarin derivatives, griseofulvin, glucocorticoids, peroral contraceptives) as their efficiency will decrease as a result of higher metabolic rate.

Корвалдин® strengthens action mestnoanesteziruyushchy, anesthetics and somnolent drugs, it is connected with the maintenance of derivatives of barbituric acid.

At simultaneous use with valproic acid its effect amplifies.

At use with a methotrexate its toxicity increases.

Alcohol strengthens effect of drug and its toxicity.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to drug components;
the expressed abnormal liver functions and/or kidneys;
hepatic porphyria;
heavy heart failure;
pregnancy and feeding by a breast.

Necessary security measures at use.

 

It is necessary to avoid the simultaneous use of alcoholic drinks.

Prolonged use of Korvaldina® because of danger of development of medicamentous dependence, possible accumulation of bromine in an organism is not recommended.

It is necessary to use carefully drug at arterial hypotension.

Overdose:

The overdose is possible at frequent or prolonged use of drug that it is connected with cumulation of its components. Prolonged and constant use causes dependence, an abstinence syndrome, psychomotor excitement. The sharp termination of administration of drug can cause a withdrawal.

Overdose symptoms: oppression of the central nervous system, confusion of consciousness, dizziness, an ataxy, drowsiness, up to a deep sleep. In hard cases of poisoning – breath disturbance, tachycardia, arrhythmias, a lowering of arterial pressure, a collapse, a coma.

Treatment: symptomatic.

Storage conditions:

Period of validity. 3 years. Not to use drug after the termination of the period of validity specified on packaging. To store in the place protected from light at a temperature not over 25 ˚С. To store in the place, unavailable to children.
