General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 1 g of a seknidazol.

Excipients: cellulose microcrystallic, starch corn, gelatin, sodium krakhmalglikolit, silicon dioxide colloid anhydrous, magnesium stearate, a gipromeloz, a macrogoal 6000, titanium dioxide (Е 171).

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Antimicrobic and antiprotozoan means, synthetic derivative nitroimidazole. It is active concerning obligate anaerobic bacteria (sporo-and asporous), causative agents of some protozoan infections: Trichomonas vaginalis, Giardia lamblia, Entamoeba histolytica.

It is not active concerning aerobic bacteria.

Increases sensitivity of tumors to radiation, causes a sensitization to ethanol (disulfiramopodobny action). Interacts with DNA, causes disturbance of a helical structure, a rupture of threads, suppression of synthesis of nucleic acids and death of a cell.

Pharmacokinetics. Seknidazol possesses high extent of absorption, bioavailability makes 80%. It is metabolized in a liver. Cmax after a single dose in 2 g is reached in 4 h. It is removed by kidneys: during 72 h - 16% of the accepted dose. It is allocated with breast milk, gets through a placental barrier.

Indications to use:

Mecotic uretrita and vaginita, intestines amebiasis, liver amebiasis, lambliasis.

Route of administration and doses:

For intake for adults the dose makes 2 g/days, for children - 30 mg/kg/days in one or several receptions. A course of treatment - from 1 to 5 days.

Features of use:

Use at pregnancy and feeding by a breast. Seknidazol is contraindicated to use at pregnancy and in the period of a lactation (breastfeeding).

Gets through a placental barrier. Clinical data on safety of use at pregnancy are absent. In pilot studies teratogenic action of a seknidazol is not revealed.

Seknidazol is allocated with breast milk therefore in need of use in the period of a lactation it is necessary to stop breastfeeding.

Use for children. Use is possible according to the dosing mode.

Special instructions. During treatment it is necessary to avoid alcohol intake.

Side effects:

Often: dispeptic symptoms (including nausea, pains in a stomach), metal smack in a mouth, a glossitis, stomatitis, a moderate reversible leukopenia, a small tortoiseshell.

Seldom: dizziness, incoordination, ataxy, paresthesias, polyneuropathy.

Interaction with other medicines:

At simultaneous use of a seknidazol with anticoagulants (derivatives of coumarin or an indandion) action of the last can amplify therefore it is necessary to control periodically a prothrombin time and if necessary to adjust doses of anticoagulants.

At simultaneous use of a seknidazol with Disulfiramum development of paranoiac reactions and psychosis is possible; with ethanol - development of the effects similar to action of Disulfiramum is possible (spasms in a stomach, nausea, vomiting, a headache, sudden rush of blood to the person).

It is not recommended to combine with not depolarizing muscle relaxants (a vekuroniya bromide).

At a concomitant use with lithium drugs секнидазол increases its concentration in plasma.

At a combination to amoxicillin activity concerning Helicobacter pylori increases (amoxicillin suppresses resistance development).

Contraindications:

Organic diseases of TsNS, pathological changes of a picture of peripheral blood (including in the anamnesis), pregnancy, the period of a lactation (breastfeeding), hypersensitivity to imidazole derivatives.

Storage conditions:

To store in the dry, protected from light place at a temperature not above 25 °C. To store in the place, unavailable to children. A period of validity - 3 years.
