Calendulas tincture

General characteristics. Structure:

Main physical and chemical properties: transparent liquid of yellow-brown color with a slight specific smell, bitterish on taste; at storage it is allowed formations of a deposit.
Structure: tincture of flowers and flower baskets of a calendula (1:10).
Excipient: alcohol of ethyl 70%.

Pharmacological properties:

Biological active agents which contain in flowers and flower baskets of a calendula (flavonoids and carotinoid a glycoside, saponins, tannins, essential oil, organic acids) render antimicrobic, antiinflammatory and moderate cholagogue action.

Indications to use:

Calendulas apply tincture locally as an antiseptic agent at the infected (purulent) wounds, cuts, burns of skin and at an inflammation of mucous membranes of an oral cavity, gums (stomatitis, an ulitis), drinks, almonds (pharyngitises, quinsy), inside — as cholagogue means at diskineziya of biliary tract, cholangites, cholecystitises ( as a part of complex therapy).

Route of administration and doses:

Calendulas accept tincture inside in 15–30 minutes prior to food, parting in a small amount of warm boiled water. Adults are recommended to apply till 10-20  tincture drops 3–4 times a day for 1 month. To children since 12 years — at the rate of 1 drop of tincture for  1 year of life.

For rinsing of an oral cavity 1 teaspoon of a calendula of tincture is parted in a glass of warm boiled water.

The drug route of administration for local applications depends on the nature of damage of skin and is defined by the doctor.

Features of use:

If you accept calendulas tincture inside, you should refrain from control of vehicles and work with potential and dangerous mechanisms.

Side effects:

Drug, as a rule, is well transferred, nevertheless at some patients at individual hypersensitivity development of allergic reactions (erubescence, rash, an itch , etc.) is possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

Calendulas tincture strengthens action of other anti-inflammatory and cholagogue drugs ( in particular, drugs on the basis of a camomile and a yarrow).

Contraindications:

Calendulas tincture is contraindicated at individual intolerance of any of drug components.

As alcohol is a part of drug, tincture is not recommended to be used inside throughout long time, and also to children up to 12 years and to women during pregnancy and feeding by a breast.

Storage conditions:

To store in cool (8–15 °C), protected from light and the place, unavailable to children. A period of validity — 4 years.
