Pharmacological properties:
Butamirat, active agent of drug Sinekod, is an antibechic of the central action, neither chemically, nor pharmacological not belonging to opium alkaloids. Renders expectorant, moderate bronkhodilatiruyushchy and antiinflammatory action, has a direct impact on the tussive center, improves spirometry indicators (reduces resistance of respiratory tracts) and blood oxygenation.
Pharmacokinetics. Butamirat is quickly and completely soaked up at intake. After reception of 150 mg of a butamirat, the maximum concentration in plasma of the main metabolite (2-phenyl-butyric acid) is reached approximately in 1.5 h and makes 6.4 mkg/ml. The elimination half-life makes 6 hours. At repeated purpose of drug its concentration in blood remains linear and cumulation is not observed. Hydrolysis of a butamirat, originally to 2-phenyl-butyric acid and diethylaminoethoxyethanol, begins in blood. These metabolites also have antibechic activity. Like a butamirat, metabolites possess almost maximum (about 95%) extent of linkng with proteins of plasma that causes, in addition, their long plasma elimination half-life. Metabolites are removed mainly with urine, and metabolites with acid reaction are substantially connected with glucuronic acid.
