Glauventum

General characteristics. Structure:

Deystvushchy substance: Glautsina hydrobromide of 10 mg

Other ingredients: starch wheat, sucrose, gelatin, talc, stearic acid, cellulose microcrystallic, titanium dioxide (Е 171), acacia, macrogoal 6000, glycerin, опалюкс pink AS-24825.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Glauventum — antibechic medicine of the central action. Contains alkaloid глауцин, Glaucinum flavum allocated from a plant (a machok yellow) which oppresses the center of cough. Unlike codeine глауцин does not influence a respiratory center and does not cause medicamentous dependence. It does not influence motility of intestines. Has weak spasmolytic effect, has insignificant sympatholytic effect, can cause decrease in the ABP. Has antiinflammatory effect.

Pharmacokinetics. At intake it rezorbirutsya quickly in a GIT. Time of achievement of Cmax in a blood plasma makes about 1,5 h after reception. It is metabolized in a liver and removed preferential with urine.

Indications to use:

Dry cough of various etiology: infectious and inflammatory diseases of upper respiratory tracts; acute and chronic bronchitis, infectious diseases (flu).

Route of administration and doses:

Glauventum is applied inside, it is recommended to accept drug after food.
Adults
The single dose for adults makes 40 mg, apply 2–3 times a day. In more hard cases the single dose can be raised to 80 mg. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 200 mg.
Children are aged more senior than 4 years
The single dose for children is aged more senior than 4 years makes 10 mg, apply 2–3 times a day. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 40 mg.
For patients with diseases of kidneys or a liver it is necessary to lower a dose of drug or to increase an interval between receptions.
Treatment duration Glauventum should not exceed 5 days.
Use of medicine during longer period and in higher doses is possible only on doctor's orders.

Features of use:

Glauventum should not be applied at productive cough which is followed by expectoration as there is a risk of obturation of bronchial tubes owing to a delay of a bronchial secret. In case of the labile ABP consultation of the doctor is required. Glauventum needs to be applied with care as as a result of sympatholytic action of a glautsin there is a risk of developing of a collapse.
Drug contains in quality of excipient wheat starch which may contain gluten, but only in insignificant quantity therefore it is considered that it is safe for persons with a Gee's disease.
Patients with an allergy to wheat (other than a Gee's disease) should not use this drug.
Drug contains sucrose as cover excipient. Patients with rare hereditary intolerance of fructose, glyukozo-galaktozny malabsorption or sakharazo-izomaltazny deficit should not apply Glauventum.
E 110 dye or E 124 dye can cause allergic reactions.
Use during pregnancy and feeding by a breast. It is necessary to apply with care Glauventum during pregnancy and feeding by a breast, having estimated a ratio advantage/risk.
Children. Drug is not used for treatment of children under 4 years.
Ability to influence speed of response at control of vehicles or work with other mechanisms. In cases if during treatment note dizziness, a headache, drowsiness, weakness and bystry fatigue, it is necessary to refrain from control of vehicles and work with mechanisms.

Side effects:

Good tolerance is characteristic of drug. Seldom at use of the high single dose exceeding 80 mg there can be dizziness, a headache, drowsiness, weakness and bystry fatigue, nausea and vomiting, decrease in the ABP. The allergic reactions which are shown an itch or skin rashes are possible.
If any of side effects becomes serious, use of drug needs to be stopped and notified on it the doctor.
In case of another, not specified in this instruction, side effects, it is necessary to report about it to the doctor immediately.

Interaction with other medicines:

Glauventum can be applied in a combination with antibiotics, chemotherapeutic and other medicines.
Glauventum should not be applied along with the medicines oppressing a tussive reflex as central (codeine, the combined drugs containing codeine, terpin hydrate and Natrii hydrocarbonas), and the peripheral mechanism of action (бензонатат, Prenoxdiazinum). The combination with the drugs causing decrease in bronchial secretion is not justified (for example atropine derivatives).
Glauventum can be applied along with bronchodilators, cardiovascular drugs. Active agent is effectively combined with ephedrine, citric acid, basil oil in the combined drugs for simplification of cough in the form of syrup.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the operating or any other excipient of drug, arterial hypotension, an acute myocardial infarction; children's age up to 4 years.

Overdose:

Symptoms: dizziness, headache, drowsiness, weakness and bystry fatigue, nausea, vomiting, decrease in the ABP.
Treatment: take the standard measures for bystry removal of drug from an organism (a gastric lavage, reception of absorbent carbon, infusion of water-salt solutions), and also carry out a symptomatic treatment.

Storage conditions:

In original packaging (in the dry, protected from light place) at a temperature not above 25 °C.
