Bronkho's Coldrex

General characteristics. Structure:

International unlicensed name: гвайфенезин. Chemical name: 3 (2-metoksifenoks)-1,2 - a pro-pan-diol. Active agent: гвайфенезин 100 mg; excipients: glucose solution, treacle, a macrogoal 300, sugar dye simple, sodium cyclomate, glacial acetic acid, sodium benzoate, liquorice and anisic fragrance 510877E, tincture of red siliculose pepper, to atsesulfa To, sodium metabisulphite, ksantamovy gum (Keltrol TF), oil of seeds of a star-shaped anise, left menthol, camphor (racemic), deionized water.

Description: dark brown viscous liquid with a smell of a glycyrrhiza and an anise.

Pharmacological properties:

Mucolytic and the expectorant, reduces viscosity of a phlegm, facilitates its removal and promotes transition of unproductive cough to productive. Treacle and liquid glucose soften and calm irritation in a throat.

Pharmacokinetics. Gvayfenezin is quickly absorbed from digestive tract (in 25–30 min. after intake). Elimination half-life 0,5 — 1 hours. Gets into the fabrics containing acid mucopolysaccharides. Excretion lungs with a phlegm and kidneys in an invariable look and  in the form of metabolites.

Indications to use:

"Bronkho's Coldrex" is recommended to be accepted at the respiratory diseases which are followed by cough with formation of the viscous hardly separated phlegm including at flu, acute tracheitis, bronchitis of a different etiology and Qatar of upper respiratory tracts. Drug has the softening and protective effect at pains and irritation in a throat at catarrhal diseases and flu.

Route of administration and doses:

Adults (including elderly) and children of 12 years are also more senior: to fill a measured cap to a mark of 10 ml and to accept one dose of 10 ml (two spoons on 5 ml). If necessary the dose can be repeated every 2-3 hour.

Children  from 3 to 12 years: to fill a measured cap to a mark of 5 ml and to accept one dose of 5 ml (one spoon on 5 ml). If necessary the dose can be repeated every 2-3 hour.

If symptoms remain, consult with the doctor.

Features of use:

 It is not necessary to accept гвайфенезин for treatment of constant cough without appointment of the doctor.

During treatment it is recommended to accept enough liquid. It is reasonable to combine administration of drug with postural drenazhy or vibration massage of a thorax. Perhaps, coloring of urine in pink color.

To patients with gastric bleeding in the anamnesis, and also with the diseases of bronchial tubes which are followed by excessive accumulation of a secret it is necessary to take drug with caution.

The prevention for having diabetes: drug contains carbohydrates — 3.6 g in 5 ml.

Gvayfenezin can yield false positive results when determining 5-hydroxyindolacetum and vanililmindalny acids in urine owing to influence of metabolites of a gvayfenezin on color. Reception of a gvayfenezin should be stopped in 48 hours prior to collecting urine for this analysis.

If after 7 days of administration of drug cough remains or along with cough temperature increase, skin rash, a long headache, a pharyngalgia is noted, it is necessary to consult with the doctor.

Side effects:

When using in the recommended doses side effects arise seldom. Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pains, diarrhea, drowsiness, allergic reactions (skin rash, a small tortoiseshell, a hyperthermia), and also dizziness and a headache which pass after drug withdrawal are sometimes possible. If you test drowsiness, refrain from driving and other mechanisms.

If you feel unpleasant feelings in a stomach or any other side effects, stop administration of drug and consult with the doctor or the druggist.

Interaction with other medicines:

It is possible to appoint drug along with other drugs used at treatment of bronchopulmonary diseases. It is not necessary to accept along with the medicines containing codeine as it complicates expectoration of the liquefied phlegm.

Contraindications:

 Do not accept "Bronkho's Coldrex" if you have an allergic reaction on гвайфенезин, glucose, treacle or any other of the listed above ingredients; if you have a peptic ulcer in an aggravation stage. Not to apply at children up to 3 years.

With care it is necessary to use drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Overdose:

Especially high doses of a gvayfenezin can make sick and vomiting. At vomiting it is necessary to hold events for completion of liquid in an organism and to watch the level of electrolytes.

Storage conditions:

To store at a temperature not over 30 ºС. To protect from children.  Do not accept drug after the period of validity specified on packaging.

Period of validity - 3 years.

Syrup, glass bottles of 100 or 160 ml with the aluminum screw-on cover. Bottles together with  the application instruction and a measured glass place in a cardboard box.
