Gvaytussin plus

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 0,100 g (100 mg) of a gvayfenezin in 5 ml of syrup.

Excipients: sorbitol solution uncrystallizable, a macrogoal 400, xanthane gum, Natrium benzoicum, sodium metabisulphite, menthol racemic, camphor racemic, anisic oil, acetic acid ice, solution of Aromatik dye Pineapple, the water purified.

The drug liquefying a phlegm and facilitating it an exit from bronchial tubes, turning neproduktvny cough into productive.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Gvayfenezin possesses expectorant action. Stimulates the secretory cells of a mucous membrane of bronchial tubes producing neutral polysaccharides, depolymerizes acid mucopolysaccharides, reduces viscosity and increases phlegm volume, activates the tsiliarny device of bronchial tubes, facilitates removal of a phlegm and promotes transition of unproductive cough to productive.

Reduces surface intention and adhesive properties of a phlegm that reduces its viscosity and facilitates evacuation from respiratory tracts.

The anisic oil which is a part of drug increases activity of a ciliary epithelium, strengthens a peristaltics of bronchioles, promoting advance of a phlegm.
Menthol removes irritation of receptors of a back wall of a throat, reducing intensity and frequency of fits of coughing.

Pharmacokinetics. Gvayfenezin is well and quickly absorbed from a GIT (in 25-30 min. after intake). Gets into the fabrics containing acid mucopolysaccharides.

Gvayfenezin (about 60%) is metabolized in a liver with formation of beta (2-metoksifenoksa) - lactic acid and partially sulfates and glyukoronat.

There is 1 h T1/2. It is removed by lungs (with a phlegm) and kidneys in the form of inactive metabolites which increase renal clearance of uric acid and reduce its level in a blood plasma.

Indications to use:

- respiratory diseases with the complicated otkhozhdeniye of a viscous phlegm: pharyngitis, sinusitis, flu, acute tracheitis, bronchitis of a different etiology;
- bronchiectasias, bronchial asthma, pulmonary tuberculosis, pneumonia, mucoviscidosis;
- sanitation of a bronchial tree in before - and postoperative the periods.

Route of administration and doses:

Gvaytussin Plus, syrup accept after food. To adults and children 12 years are more senior 3-4 times a day, the maximum dose of a gvayfenezin no more than 1600 mg/days accept in a single dose 10 – 20 ml (200-400 mg of a gvayfenezin) of syrup.

To children from 6 to 12 years 3-4 times a day, the maximum dose of a gvayfenezin no more than 800 mg/days accept in a single dose 5 – 10 ml (100-200 mg of a gvayfenezin) of syrup.

To children from 2 to 6 years accept in a single dose 2,5 - 5 ml (50-100 mg of a gvayfenezin) of syrup with an interval of 6-8 hours, the maximum dose of a gvayfenezin no more than 400 mg/days.

Features of use:

Before use Gvaytussin Plus, siropsledut to see a doctor. Gvaytussin Plus, syrup should not be accepted along with other anti-cold medicines.

It is not necessary to accept гвайфенезин for treatment of constant cough without appointment of the doctor. During treatment it is recommended to accept enough liquid.

It is reasonable to combine treatment Gvaytussin Plus, syrup with postural drenazhy or vibration massage of a thorax.

If after 7 days of reception of medicine cough remains or along with cough the hyperthermia, skin rash, a long headache, a pharyngalgia are noted, it is necessary to consult with the doctor.

It is necessary to be careful at children aged from 2 up to 12 years at persistent or chronic cough against the background of bronchial asthma or with the raised department of a phlegm (before purpose of a gvayfenezin careful medical control is required).

Coloring of urine in pink color is possible. Results of definition of 5-hydroxyindolacetic acid in urine (when using a nitrozonaftolny reactant) can be in a false manner overestimated owing to influence of metabolites of a gvayfenezin on color (reception of a gvayfenezin should be stopped for 48 h before collecting urine for this test). Gvayfenezin and his metabolites can cause discoloration when determining vanililmindalny acid in urine and in a false manner overestimate test results with it by catechins (reception of a gvayfenezin should be stopped for 48 h before collecting urine for this test).

Use of medicine for persons with the broken function of a liver and kidneys perhaps under observation of the doctor.

Medicine does not contain sugar and can be used by patients with a diabetes mellitus.

Influence on ability to manage the vehicle or the equipment. Gvayfenezin does not exert negative impact on ability to manage motor transport and on operator activity. However weak anxiolytic action of a gvayfenezin can promote strengthening of action of the means exerting the oppressing impact on TsNS and also ethanol at their simultaneous use. In this regard whenever possible it is necessary to avoid the specified combinations or to refuse temporarily the listed types of activity.

Side effects:

At observance of the recommended dosage medicine is transferred well.

Gvayfenezin can make in rare instances sick, vomiting, a diarrhea, pain in abdominal area, dizziness.

At hypersensitivity allergic manifestations are possible: urticaria, skin rash, hyperthermia.

Interaction with other medicines:

Gvaytussin Plus, the siroyena should accept with codeine since codeine complicates an otkhozhdeniye of the liquefied phlegm.

Let's combine with bronchial spasmolytics, antimicrobic means, cardiac glycosides.

Contraindications:

- hypersensitivity to a gvayfenezin and other components of medicine;
- "wet" cough with a plentiful otkhozhdeniye of a phlegm;
- a peptic ulcer of a stomach or a 12-perstny gut, gastric bleeding (in the anamnesis);
- children's age up to 2 years.

Pregnancy and lactation. During pregnancy syrup should be taken with caution on doctor's orders. At use of medicine in the period of a lactation it is necessary to stop breastfeeding.

Overdose:

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, drowsiness.

Symptomatic treatment: gastric lavage, absorbent carbon, maintenance of functions of cardiovascular and respiratory systems, functions of kidneys and water-salt balance.

Storage conditions:

To store in the place protected from light at a temperature not above +25 °C. To store in the place, unavailable to children. Period of validity 2 years.
