Tetralgin

General characteristics. Structure:

Active agents: analginum (metamizole sodium) of 300 mg, phenobarbital of 10 mg, caffeine of anhydrous 50 mg, codeine monohydrate in terms of codeine of 8 mg. 

Excipients: starch of potato 28,31 mg, magnesium stearate of 3,69 mg.

Pharmacological properties:

The combined drug, has analgeziruyushchy and febrifugal effect. Metamizole sodium – non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, has anesthetic, spasmolytic effect on smooth muscles of urinary and bilious tract. Caffeine has all-tonic effect (reduces drowsiness and feeling of fatigue, increases intellectual and physical effeciency, increases heart rate, raises arterial pressure at arterial hypotension). Codeine has the anesthetizing effect and improves portability of pain; phenobarbital – sedative and spasmolytic action.

Indications to use:

Pain syndrome of various genesis: head, a dentagra, muscle and joints pains, neuralgia, at painful periods, at radiculitis. 

Тетралгин® it can also be applied to decrease in the increased body temperature and weakening of symptoms of an indisposition at "catarrhal" and other infectious and inflammatory diseases.

Route of administration and doses:

Inside on 1 tablet 1-4 times a day, washing down with liquid. The maximum daily dose – 4 tablets.

Features of use:

It is not necessary to accept drug more than 5 days at appointment as anesthetic and more than 3 days as an antipyretic. 

At long (more than 5 days) use of drug control of a picture of peripheral blood and a functional condition of a liver is necessary. 

Administration of drug can complicate establishment of the diagnosis at an abdominal pain syndrome, including at a "acute" stomach. 

Patients with bronchial asthma, pollinoses have an increased risk of development of reactions of hypersensitivity. Can change results of analyses of a drug test of athletes. 

During administration of drug the excessive use of tea and coffee as it can lead to excitement, a sleep disorder, tachycardia, disturbance of a heart rhythm is not recommended. 

At development of constant need for administration of drug, it is necessary to see a doctor urgently. 

Drug does not influence coordination of movement, however its use when performing potentially dangerous types of activity requiring special attention and bystry reactions (control of motor transport, work with moving mechanisms, work of the dispatcher and operator) is not recommended.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions (rash, itch, urticaria), dizziness, drowsiness, reduction in the rate of psychomotor reactions, leukopenia, granulocytopenia, agranulocytosis, heart consciousness, nausea and vomiting, lock. It is necessary to report about all side effects of drug including which are not specified in this instruction to the attending physician.

Interaction with other medicines:

Pharmakodinamicheskoye: simultaneous use of drug with other non-narcotic analgesics can lead to strengthening of toxic effects. Tricyclic antidepressants, contraceptives for intake, Allopyrinolum increase toxicity of metamizole sodium. Barbiturates, phenylbutazone and other inductors of microsomal enzymes of a liver weaken effect of metamizole sodium. Sedatives and tranquilizers strengthen the anesthetizing action of Tetralgina®. 

Pharmacokinetic: the adsorbents knitting and enveloping means can reduce absorption of the codeine which is a part of drug in digestive tract. 

Simultaneous use of metamizole sodium with cyclosporine reduces concentration of the last in a blood plasma. Caffeine accelerates ergotamine absorption.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to components of drug and other derivatives of pyrazyl ketone (phenylbutazone). The expressed abnormal liver functions and kidneys; a peptic ulcer of a stomach and duodenum (in an aggravation stage); bronchospasm; the states which are followed by respiratory depression, blood diseases (a leukopenia, hemolitic anemias); the increased intracranial pressure, a craniocereberal injury; acute myocardial infarction; disturbances of a cordial rhythm; the increased arterial pressure; deficit glyukozo-6-fosfatdegidrogenazy; alcoholic intoxication; pregnancy and period of a lactation; children's age (up to 14 years).

With care:

apply at patients with an impaired renal function or a liver, with a peptic ulcer of a stomach and duodenum in a remission stage, at elderly people.

Overdose:

At long uncontrolled reception in high doses it is possible: abnormal liver function and kidneys; accustoming (easing of analgesic effect); medicinal dependence (codeine). 

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, stomach aches, heart consciousness, respiratory depression. It is necessary to ask for medical assistance immediately. 

Treatment: to cause vomiting, to wash out a stomach water, to accept absorbent carbon and to carry out a symptomatic treatment.

Storage conditions:

In the dry, protected from light place, at a temperature not above 25 °C.
