Indications to use: Contaminated wounds. The infected burns. Trophic ulcers. Quinsy (Acute tonsillitis). Colpitis. Urethritis. Poisoning with alkaloids. Gastric lavage. Poisonings with medicines.


General characteristics. Structure:

Drug contains not less than 99,0% of KMnO4.




Pharmacological properties:

Antiseptic agent. At contact with organic matters emits elemental oxygen. The oxide which is formed at manganese permanganate potassium recovery forms with proteins complex connections - albuminates (at the expense of this potassium permanganate in small concentration renders knitting, and in strong solutions the action - irritating, cauterizing and tanning). Has also deodorizing effect. It is effective at treatment of burns and ulcers.

Ability of potassium of permanganate to neutralize some poisons is the cornerstone of use of its solutions for a gastric lavage at poisonings. At hit it is inside soaked up, having gematotoksichesky effect (leads to development of a methemoglobinemia).


Indications to use:

Greasing of ulcer and burn surfaces - contaminated wounds, ulcers and burns of skin.

Rinsing of an oral cavity and stomatopharynx - at infectious and inflammatory diseases of a mucous membrane of a mouth and a stomatopharynx (including quinsies).

For washing and syringings at gynecologic and urological diseases - colpitises and uretrita.

For gastric lavages - at the poisonings caused by intake of alkaloids (morphine, aconitine, nicotine), cyanhydric acid, phosphorus, quinine; skin - at hit of aniline on it; an eye - at defeat by their poisonous insects.


Route of administration and doses:

Outwardly, in aqueous solutions for washing of wounds (0,1-0,5%), for rinsing of a mouth and a throat (0,01-0,1%), for greasing of ulcer and burn surfaces (2-5%), for syringings (0,02-0,1%) in gynecologic and urological practice, and also gastric lavages at poisonings.

For dissolution - several crystals place in a glass with warm water and mix, use solution only freshly cooked.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions, when using strong solutions - burns and irritations.


Interaction with other medicines:

Chemically it is not compatible to some organic matters (coal, sugar, tannin) and easily oxidized substances - there can be an explosion.


Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity.


Overdose:

Symptoms: a sharp stomatalgia, on the gullet course, in a stomach, vomiting, diarrhea; a mucous membrane of an oral cavity and a throat - edematous, dark brown, violet color, throat hypostasis, development of mechanical asphyxia, burn shock, motive excitement, spasms, the phenomena of parkinsonism, hemorrhagic colitis, a nephropathy, hepatopathy is possible. At the lowered acidity of a gastric juice development of a methemoglobinemia with the expressed cyanosis and an asthma is possible. A lethal dose for children about 3 g, for adult 0,3-0,5 g/kg.

Treatment: methylene blue (50 ml of 1% of solution), ascorbic acid (in/in - 30 ml of 5% of solution), cyanocobalamine - to 1 mg, a pyridoxine (in oil - 3 ml of 5% of solution).


Storage conditions:
