Берестин®

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: birch tar (with the content of phenol from 0,5 to 2,5%).

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Has the keratoplastichesky, antiseptic, antiparasitic, drying, antiinflammatory, vasoconstrictive, anesthetic effect; reduces an erythema, the itch calms.

At infiltrative processes in skin has resorptional effect.

Indications to use:

Psoriasis in the stationary and regressing stages, eczema (including microbic and seborrheal), neurodermatitis out of an aggravation, a prurigo, seborrhea, a skin itch.

Route of administration and doses:

Outwardly. At eczema, neurodermatitis and psoriasis before use removal of crusts or scales by means of an oil compress is carried out. Берестин® inflict on the centers defeats of skin a rigid brush or a hand for 15 minutes in the beginning once a day, gradually increasing application time up to 30 minutes. Drug is deleted with the cotton or gauze plug moistened with a vegetable or liquid paraffin.

At psoriasis and a prurigo in 15-30 minutes after drawing it is recommended to take a shower with soap or shower gel, washing away drug a bast or a sponge. After removal from skin of Berestina® the centers of defeat grease with the softening ointment or cream. The daily dose of drug should not exceed 6–8 g.

Duration of a course of treatment – up to 4 weeks, breaks between courses of 1-2 months.

Features of use:

Pregnancy and lactation. It is not recommended to apply at pregnancy, feeding by a breast and to the women planning pregnancy.

Before an initiation of treatment it is recommended to investigate portability of Berestina® on the limited site of skin. In the course of treatment it is necessary periodically (1–2 times a month) to investigate urine.

It is not necessary to use Berestin® a long time on big sites of skin (more than 1/10 surfaces). With care apply Berestin® at children and persons with sensitive skin, at tendency to folliculites, on sites with the raised pilosis.

Берестин® leaves dark stains on bed and underwear, at prolonged use paints skin in dark color.

Spots on linen are removed liquid ammonia (1 tablespoon on 10 l of water). Dark stains on skin independently disappear soon after the end of treatment.

Fair hair at impact on them of Berestina® darkens a little.

Side effects:

Right after drawing Berestina® burning of skin is sometimes observed, the itch at the same time disappears. Burning stops in 10-15 minutes and only at the few patients can remain is longer. In such cases it is necessary to remove from skin drug in 15 minutes and not to increase application time at the subsequent use. Subjective feelings disappear after 2-3 applications.

In some cases there can be an irritation of skin in a drawing zone. Emergence it forms the basis for temporary interruption of treatment. The irritation usually passes from use of lotions and pastes. It is not connected with intolerance of Berestina®.

When drawing Berestina® on sites of skin with the raised pilosis or on a pilar part of the head development of a folliculitis is sometimes observed.

Use of Berestina® on open sites of skin (a face, a neck, hands) can provoke emergence of sunblisters.

Interaction with other medicines:

Along with Berestinom® do not appoint sulfanamide drugs, a derivative fenotiazin and other means having properties to increase photosensitivity of skin.

Combination of Berestina® to the drugs containing sulfur and salicylic acid strengthen its action.

Contraindications:

Acute inflammation of skin, exacerbation of chronic diseases of skin, especially at the expressed exudation (acute eczema, dermatitis, exudative psoriasis), defeat of sal-but-hair follicles (a folliculitis, a furunculosis, eels, a sycosis), diseases of kidneys, a liver, a pancreas, a myocardium.

Overdose:

At use of Berestina® a long time on big squares (more than 1/10 surfaces of skin) symptoms of intoxication which treat weakness, a fever, nausea, vomiting, a diarrhea, dizziness, a headache, spasms can be observed.

Urine at the same time can get greenish coloring (olive urine, a karboluriya), to support squirrels and cylinders.

Storage conditions:

In    the place protected from light at a temperature not above 25 °C. To store in the place, unavailable to children. A period of validity - 5 years. Not to use after a period of validity.

Packaging:

Liquid for external use in bottles from dark glass on 10, 15, 20,30, 50, and 100 g. Each bottle together with the instruction on a medical use is placed in a pack from a cardboard.
