Коделак® phyto

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredients: Codeini phosphas гемигидрат – 4,5 mg, a thermopsis extract dry - 10 mg, a thyme extract liquid – 1000 mg, glycyrrhizas extract dry – 165 mg;
excipients: methylparahydroxybenzoate (нипагин), пропилпарагидроксибензоат (нипазол), sorbitol (sorbite), water (the water purified).

Pharmacological properties:

Cough remedy, contains components of a plant origin. The combined drug.

Codeine reduces excitability of the tussive center, reducing intensity of cough. In the recommended therapeutic doses does not cause oppression of the respiratory and tussive center, does not break function of a ciliary epithelium and does not reduce bronchial secretion.

The grass of a thermopsis has the expectorant effect which is shown in increase in secretory function of bronchial glands, strengthening of activity of a ciliate epithelium and acceleration of removal of a secret, increase in a tone of unstriated muscles of bronchial tubes due to the central vagotropic effect.

The root of a glycyrrhiza has expectorant antiinflammatory and spasmolytic effect.

Contains glycyrrhizin which possesses antiviral action, and also exponentiates action of endogenous glucocorticosteroids, having antiinflammatory and antiallergic effect. Thanks to the expressed antiinflammatory activity, glycyrrhizin promotes the most bystry stopping of infectious and inflammatory process in respiratory tracts.

Extract of a grass of a thyme contains mix of the essential oils possessing expectorant, antiinflammatory and bactericidal action due to strengthening of activity of a ciliate epithelium of mucous membranes of upper respiratory tracts, increase in quantity of the separated secret of a mucous membrane of bronchial tubes, fluidifying of a phlegm, acceleration of its evacuation and a loosening of inflammatory plaques. Besides, the thyme has weak spasmolytic and reparative properties.

Indications to use:

Symptomatic treatment of dry cough of any etiology at bronchopulmonary diseases.

Route of administration and doses:

To adults and children 2 years are more senior. Inside depending on age: children from 2 to 5 years on 5 ml a day, to children are from 5 to 8 years old on 10 ml a day, children are from 8 to 12 years old on 10-15 ml a day, to children from 

12 up to 15 years and the adult on 15-20 ml a day. The daily dose should be divided into 2 – 3 receptions.

Before the use to shake up.
It is recommended to accept an elixir in breaks between meals. The symptomatic treatment has to be short (several days).

Features of use:

• long treatment by high doses can result in dependence on drug;
• it is not necessary to appoint Kodelak® phyto along with mucolytic and expectorant drugs;
• before purpose of antibechics it is necessary to specify the cough reason because of possible need of special treatment;
• in connection with a possibility of development of sedative action, during treatment it is not recommended to be engaged in the types of activity requiring special attention, speed of mental and motor reactions;
• athletes should remember that drug contains codeine and is dope;
• it is necessary to be careful in case of the increased intracranial pressure;
• patients with a renal failure have a codeine removal in a slowed-up way therefore it is recommended to extend intervals between administrations of drug;
• the use of alcoholic drinks is forbidden during reception of Kodelak® phyto.

Side effects:

At reception in therapeutic doses development of allergic reactions (a skin itch, a small tortoiseshell) is possible. Nausea, vomiting, locks, a headache, drowsiness are possible. At prolonged use development of medicinal dependence to codeine is possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

• Use with other drugs oppressing activity of the central nervous system because of strengthening of sedation and the oppressing action on a respiratory center is undesirable: somnolent, sedative, antihistamines, narcotic analgetics derivative morphine, anxiolytics, antipsychotic drugs.
• Codeine strengthens effect of ethanol on psychomotor function.
• Chloramphenicol brakes codeine biotransformation in a liver and by that strengthens its action.
• At use of codeine in high doses, effect of cardiac glycosides (digoxin, etc.) can amplify as in connection with weakening of a vermicular movement their absorption amplifies.
• The adsorbents knitting and enveloping means can reduce absorption of the codeine which is a part of drug in digestive tract.

Contraindications:

• hypersensitivity to drug components;
• respiratory insufficiency;
• bronchial asthma;
• pregnancy and feeding by a breast;
• children's age up to 2 years;
• reception of morfinopodobny drugs (buprenorphine, налбуфин, pentazocine);
• alcohol intake.

Overdose:

Symptoms: drowsiness, vomiting, headache, itch, miosis, oppression of a respiratory center, брадипноэ, arrhythmias, bradycardia, ischuria, bladder atony. A symptomatic treatment, including recovery of breath and cardiovascular activity, a gastric lavage, introduction of respiratory analeptics, atropine and the competitive physiological antagonist of codeine – Naloxonum.

List B. To store in the place protected from light, at a temperature from 8 °C to 15 °C.
To store in the place, unavailable to children.

Period of validity - 1 year 6 months. It is not necessary to use after the expiry date specified on packaging.

Elixir. On 50, 100 and 125 ml in bottles from dark glass. One bottle with the application instruction and a measured spoon or one bottle with the multipage label and a measured spoon is placed in a pack from a cardboard.
