Miosis
Description:
The miosis is a medical term which means narrowing of a pupil in the diameter to the sizes less than 2-2,5 mm.
The miosis - can be a normal physiological state at elderly people, newborn, at intellectual or physical exhaustion, at accommodation and convergence, at far-sighted, during sleep, and just as defense reaction at bright light.
Miosis symptoms:
Visible narrowing of a pupil is observed.
Miosis reasons:
Distinguish such types of a miosis: medicamentous, paralytic, spastic, syphilitic.
The medicamentous miosis can be near is caused medicinal substances
1. The substances lowering activity of adrenergic system
2. Holinostimulyatora:
a) M-cholinomimetics (Pilocarpinum, muscarine)
b) Antikholinesteraznye with M-holinpotentsiiruyushchim action (аминостигмин, organophosphorous connections, etc.)
c) Reserpinum, cardiac glycosides, opiates, barbiturates, etc.,
The miosis can arise at poisoning with morphine, alcohol, muscarine, nicotine, Chlorali hydras, aniline dyes, bromine, organophosphorous connections, mushrooms, caffeine, chemical warfare agents of neuroparalytic action (sarin).
The spastic miosis – develops at a pupil sphincter spasm at defeat of a nervous system at such diseases: encephalitis, myelosyringosis, meningitis, brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, uraemia, tonic phase of an epileptic seizure
The paralytic miosis – develops at pupil dilatator paralysis (at bilateral processes in the field of cervical department of a sympathetic trunk, the ciliospinal center, a texture of a carotid artery);
The syphilitic miosis - develops at a tertiary form of syphilis (neurosyphilis).
Also the miosis can arise at such diseases:
Foreign body of a cornea. Acute iritis. Helcoma. Front and back uveites. Horner's syndrome (miosis, ptosis and enophthalmos). Traumatic hyphema
At a diabetic and alcoholic neuropathy Argayll Roberteon's pupils are often observed. Cardiovascular arteriosclerosis. Cluster headache. Hemorrhage of the varoliyevy bridge. Diseases of eyes, ears, nose, throat.
