Alfarona

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: not less than 50 000 ME of interferon alpha 2b.

Excipients: Polyglucinum, sodium chloride, sodium phosphate monosubstituted 2-water, sodium phosphate disubstituted.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Alfarona – human recombinant interferon - alpha 2b – the protein synthesized by a strain of Escherichia coli which genetic office the gene of human leukocytic interferon alpha 2b is built in. Alfarona is identical to human leukocytic interferon alpha 2b. Possesses antiviral, immunomodulatory, antiinflammatory, antimicrobic action.

Indications to use:

Prevention and treatment of a SARS, flu at adults and children at initial stages of a disease.

Route of administration and doses:

Intranazalno. Contents of a bottle are dissolved in 5 ml of water for injections. At the first symptoms of a disease of flu, SARS: the adult — on 3 drops in each nasal course of 5-6 times a day (a single dose — 3000 ME, daily — 15000-18000 ME), to newborns and children till 1 year — on 1 drop of 5 times a day (a single dose 1000 ME, a daily dose — 5000 ME), to children from 1 to 3 years — on 2 drops 3–4 times a day (a single dose — 2000 ME, daily — 6000-8000 ME), from 3 to 14 years — on 2 drops of 4-5 times a day (a single dose — 2000 ME, daily — 8000-10000 ME) within 5 days.

For prevention of a SARS and flu. At contact with the patient and/or when overcooling — according to an age dosage 2 times a day within 5–7 days. In case of need preventive courses are repeated. At single contact one instillation suffices.

At seasonal increase in incidence — according to an age dosage in the morning in 1–2 days.

After an instillation it is recommended to massage fingers nose wings within several minutes for hypodispersion of drug in a nasal cavity.

Interaction with other medicines:

Simultaneous use of intranasal vasoconstrictive drugs is not recommended (promotes additional drying of a mucous membrane of a nose).

Contraindications:

The individual intolerance of drugs of interferon, allergic diseases proceeding in a severe form.

Storage conditions:

To store in the dry, protected from light place, at a temperature not over +10 ºС. To store solution of drug no more than 10 days in the refrigerator (not to freeze). A period of validity - 2 years. Not to use after expiry date.
