Ichthyolum

General characteristics. Structure:

Contains in 1 suppository: as active agent of an ikhtammol — 0,2 g; excipients (solid fat, type A or a vitepsol) — enough before receiving suppository weighing 1,23 g. Suppositories of dark-brown color with a smell of Ichthyolum, a torpedo-shaped form, with the maximum diameter of 1,2 cm.

Pharmacological properties:

Anti-inflammatory drug, has mestnoobezbolivayushchy, antiseptic, keratoplastichesky action. At direct action on mucous causes the weak irritation of sensitive nerve terminations which is replaced by decrease in their sensitivity. Causes a denaturation of proteinaceous molecules. Favorably influences area of an inflammation of mucous: regulates a vascular tone, recovers blood circulation, improves a metabolism.

Indications to use:

In gynecology — an endometritis, a salpingo-oophoritis; in urology — chronic nonspecific prostatitis.

Route of administration and doses:

Rektalno, 1-2 suppositories a day, after a cleansing enema or spontaneous purgation.

Side effects:

Local allergic reactions are possible.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to drug components.

Storage conditions:

In dry, protected from light and the place, unavailable to children, at a temperature not above 20 °C.
