General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: 0,25 g of metronidazole.

Antiprotozoan drug with antimicrobic action.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Metronidazole belongs to nitro-5-imidazoles and possesses a broad spectrum of activity concerning anaerobic microorganisms - Peptostreptococcus, Clostridium sp., Bacteroides sp., Fusobacterium, Prevotella, Veilonella. Suppresses development of protozoa - Trichomonas vaginalis, Giardia intestinalis (Lamblia intestinalis). Entamoeba histolytica.

Pharmacokinetics. At intake Metronidazole quickly and almost is completely soaked up. Meal does not influence drug absorption. The elimination half-life is equal to 8-10 hours, communication with blood proteins insignificant also does not exceed 10-20%.

Drug quickly gets into fabrics (lungs, kidneys, a liver, skin), bile, cerebrospinal fluid, saliva, semen, a vaginal secret, in breast milk and passes through a placental barrier. Metronidazole is metabolized by oxidation in a liver and linkng with glucuronic acid.

Removal of drug is carried out for 40-70% through kidneys (in not changed form - about 20% of the accepted dose) and with a stake. At patients with a liver failure the elimination half-life remains without changes.

Indications to use:

Mecotic vaginitis and urethritis at women, a mecotic urethritis at men, a lambliasis, amoebic dysentery; the mephitic gangrenes caused by microorganisms, sensitive to drug.

Combination therapy of the heavy mixed aerobic-anaerobic infections. Prevention of a mephitic gangrene at surgical interventions (especially on abdominal organs, urinary tract). Alcoholism.

In a combination with amoxicillin: chronic gastritis in an aggravation phase, a peptic ulcer of a stomach and duodenum in an aggravation phase, associated with Helicobacter pylori.

Route of administration and doses:

At an amebiasis of Trikhobrol® apply inside within 7 days on 1,5 g a day in 3 receptions (adults) and 0,03-0,04 g/kg a day, also in 3 receptions (children). At a lambliasis drug is appointed within 5 days - the adult on 0,75-1,0 g a day, children are 2-5 years old on 0:25 g a day, children are 5-10 years old - on 0,375 g a day and to children of 10-15 years - on 0,5 g a day. To accept after food 2-3 times a day.

At trichomoniasis at women (an urethritis and a vaginitis) Trikhobrol® appoint once in a dose 2 g or in the form of course treatment within 10 days: on 1 tablet (0,25 g) 2 times a day. In parallel with intake appoint in the evening on 1 vaginal suppository or the vaginal tablet containing 0,25 g of Trikhobrola®.

For an exception of possible reinfection it is necessary to carry out treatment of at the same time sexual partners.

The course of treatment is repeated if necessary in 4-6 weeks.

At trichomoniasis at men (urethritis) of Trikhobrol® is appointed once in a dose of 2 g or in the form of course treatment within 10 days on 1 tablet (0,25 g) by 2 times a day. At nonspecific vaginita apply 0,5 g Трихоброла® 2 times a day within 7 days.

At treatment of mephitic gangrenes by the adult appoint Trikhobrol 1-1,5 g a day, to children - at the rate of 0,02-0,03 g/kg a day.

Features of use:

The use of alcoholic beverages during treatment of Trikhobrolom® is contraindicated.

Side effects:

Nausea, metal smack in a mouth, anorexia, pains in epigastriums, vomiting, diarrhea, a headache, dizziness, and also local skin reactions in the form of urticaria and an itch are in rare instances observed. Extremely seldom - spasms, confusion of consciousness, a hallucination, a depression.

At prolonged treatment can be observed by high doses a leukopenia, peripheral neuropathy.

Extremely seldom found and reversible cases of pancreatitis are described. Coloring of urine in brown and reddish color because of presence of the pigments connected with metabolism of Trikhobrola® is possible.

Interaction with other medicines:

Pharmakodinamicheskoye: combined oral administration of Trikhobrola® with antibiotics aminoglycosides (Neomycinum, streptomycin, gentamycin, etc.), erythromycin oppresses pathogenic flora in a digestive tract that reduces probability of complications after operation on thick and a rectum. Under the influence of Trikhobrol strengthening of effects of anticoagulants of indirect action is possible.

Under the influence of barbiturates decrease in effect of Trikhobrola® as its inactivation in a liver accelerates is possible.

The action spectrum of Trikhobrola® extends at the combined appointment it with streptocides and cephalosporins.

At combined use of Trikhobrola® and alcohol owing to blockade of Trikhobrolom® of enzyme of an aldegiddegidrogenaza face reddening, vomiting, abdominal pains, etc. is possible.

It is not necessary to combine Trikhobrol® with Teturamum as at interaction of these drugs consciousness oppression, psychotic frustration is possible.

Pharmacokinetic: the adsorbents, Colestyraminum knitting and enveloping means reduce absorption of Trikhobrola® in digestive tract.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to imidazoles; organic lesions of the central nervous system, abnormal liver function; pregnancy and period of feeding by a breast; blood diseases.
