Description:


Thrombosis of a cavernous (cavernous) sine - the formation of blood clot up to full occlusion of a gleam of a sine accompanied with an inflammation of its vascular wall.

The clinical picture of thrombosis of a cavernous sine consists of the general infectious, all-brain, meningeal and local symptoms.

The general symptomatology is characterized by the serious general septic condition which is followed by the high remitiruyushchy rise in temperature which is combined with oznoba, plentiful sweating and weakness.

The all-brain symptomatology is accompanied by increase in intracranial pressure and is expressed in a headache, nausea, vomiting.

The meningeal symptomatology is characterized by a stiff neck at negative Kernig's signs and Brudzinsky (the dissociated symptom complex).

From local signs the century and conjunctivas, хемоз conjunctivas, an exophthalmos and a ptosis of eyeglobes, paralyzes of eye muscles are noted bilateral puffiness. Through thin skin a century, in a forehead and a root of a nose, expanded veins act. At survey of an eyeground stagnation, a papilledema, sharply expanded veins, hemorrhages on a retina are visible.


Reasons of Thrombosis of a cavernous sine:


The disease can be caused by spread of an infection from area of a nasolabial triangle (at nose furuncles) or at a purulent inflammation of okolonosovy bosoms.

Treatment consists in the emergency sanitation of a suppurative focus in okolonosovy bosoms and use of massive antibacterial therapy in combination with anticoagulants.

The important place in conservative therapy is allocated to therapy by anticoagulants according to the corresponding scheme.
