the Keto-diet, or ketogenic diet, was developed in the 80th years of the XX century, at the peak of popularity of bodybuilding, and was used by athletes for "drying" of a body. There is an opinion that this power supply system was applied still in the twenties last century – allegedly it was used in complex therapy of diseases of a nervous system. Anyway, the keto-diet is effective, and with its help problem layers of fat of which it is difficult to get rid on other diets leave.

The keto-diet essence – in minimizing of content of carbohydrates in a diet, a basis of food becomes protein. The matter is that carbohydrates are a main source of energy in an organism. If they cease to arrive, process of obtaining energy of fat during which fat is split with formation of ketonic bodies is started. Such condition of an organism is called a ketosis. Weight reduction results not due to reduction of muscular tissue or removal of water, and due to fat loss.

Basic rules of a keto-diet:

  • before its beginning within 2-3 days it is necessary to starve, and to drink only pure still water;
  • about 3-4 days products from the allowed list are gradually entered into a diet;
  • in a day diet there have to be about 70% of fats, 20% of proteins and 10% of carbohydrates;
  • the keto-diet does not assume strict calculation of calories, but it is desirable that this indicator did not exceed 2000 kcal a day.

What products are resolved?

  • fat, salted pork fat, brisket, breast cut, jamón, bacon;
  • bird with skin;
  • fish, especially fat (halibut, trout, salmon, herring, mackerel);
  • seafood;
  • eggs;
  • dairy and fermented milk products of the increased fat content (except kefir and whole milk), fat cheeses with the minimum content of carbohydrates;
  • green vegetables, avocado, mushrooms;
  • noodles of a shirataka, tofu;
  • buckwheat, brown and wild rice;
  • whole-grain bread;
  • butter, not refined vegetable oils.

Root crops, unsweetened fruit and berries, nuts and bitter chocolate are admissible in the minimum quantities.

It is possible to have tea and coffee without sugar, sometimes – easy alcoholic drinks (light beer, cider, natural dry wine).

What products are prohibited?

  • grain (except resolved), pastries, all types of macaroni;
  • potatoes, beet, carrots;
  • persimmon, dates, mango, grapes, bananas, apricots;
  • sugar, honey, dried fruits;
  • vegetable spreads, margarine, the fat-free products, sauces with addition of thickeners and sugar;
  • soft drinks of industrial production.

Menu

The approximate menu of a keto-diet for 1 day:

Breakfast

Toast with cheese, 2 hard boiled eggs, coffee.

Lunch

Salad from fresh vegetables, 150 g of boiled chicken fillet, cheese slice.

Afternoon snack

Almonds handful.

Dinner

150 g of a salmon on a grill, cucumber and sheet greens salad.

Supper

100 g of cottage cheese.

Useful tips

Council 1: for the period of carrying out a keto-diet it is desirable to accept the drug containing cellulose, for example, bran.
