Gel chromatography

Gel chromatography (Latin of gelu – a frost, gelo – to stiffen, freeze; Greek chruma (chrumatos) – paint, coloring + Greek graphu – I write; synonym: gel filtering) – the way of division of the substances having different molecular weight, which is based on distinction of speed of their diffusion in gels; it is applied in microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, virology, clinical biochemistry, for example, for division of serum proteins.
