Ultrakain

Ultrakain (the international name – Artikain) treats group of anesthetics of local action which remove a pain syndrome.

Ultrakain in stomatology is applied as anesthesia before removal and sealing of teeth, and also to preparation of an oral cavity for operations.

Structure and form of release

The main active ingredients as a part of Ultrakain – a hydrochloride of an artikain of 40 mg and a hydrochloride of adrenaline of 6-12 mg.

Auxiliary components: metasodium bisulphate, sodium chloride, the purified water.

Ultrakain is issued in ampoules on 2 ml for the injections of hypodermic introduction placed in cardboard packaging on 100 pieces.

Pharmacological action of Ultrakain

Ultrakain possesses anesthetic and vasoconstrictive action, and also is effective drug of conduction anesthesia. The main substances as a part of Ultrakain are released in fabrics and get into nerve fibril, eliminating a pain syndrome.

Drug begins to work from first minutes after introduction under skin and its effect lasts 2-3 hours.

Ultrakain in stomatology is applied as local anesthetic which has the minimum risk of side effects. Drug does not slow down process of regeneration and stops increase in arterial pressure. Ultrakain is brought from an organism through kidneys with urine within 5-10 hours.

Ultrakain received good comments as the effective analgetic which is not influencing work of cardiovascular system.

During treatment the patients managing vehicles and working at dangerous productions need to be careful. Ultrakain can slow down psychomotor reactions.

Indications to use

Ultrakain is appointed as anesthesia for holding procedures in stomatology and operations in an oral cavity:

• exodontia without complications;
• sealing;
• installation of a crown;
• preventive procedures in an oral cavity;
• removal of abscesses, processing of wounds, suture and other medical procedures in an oral cavity.

Ultrakain has positive reviews as the anesthetic applied at operational interventions in a nasopharynx.

Application instruction of Ultrakain

According to the instruction Ultrakain it is necessary to enter 5-10 ml under skin. Before carrying out anesthesia the patient has to undergo diagnostic procedures, and after operational intervention it is necessary to control the arterial pressure, a state respiratory and central nervous systems.

During removal and sealing of teeth without complications the drug is administered on 1,5 ml (in a palatal seam), and at installation of a seal – on 1 ml on tooth.

According to the instruction Ultrakain children cannot appoint up to 4 years. The maximum dosage for adults should not exceed 7 mg, and for children - 5 mg.

After anesthesia within several minutes sensitivity of an oral cavity will be recovered. Meal is resolved in 2-3 hours.

Ultrakain strengthens action of other local analgetics that promotes oppression of a nervous system. Drug should not be used together with anticoagulants and MAO inhibitors.

Contraindications

Contraindications to Ultrakain's appointment are hypersensitivity and intolerance of components of drug, hypotonia, tachycardia, glaucoma of closed-angle type, asthma, a renal failure, children's age up to 4 years.

With care drug is appointed at anemia, a ciliary arrhythmia, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Side effects of Ultrakain

Ultrakain can cause the following side effects:

• from the central nervous system – a headache, dizziness, a loss of consciousness, drowsiness, a tremor, spasms, a look zatumanennost, a diplopia, confusion of consciousness and a lack of coordination;
• from cardiovascular system – bradycardia, arrhythmia, a sharp lowering of arterial pressure;
• from the alimentary system - nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, dyspepsia;
• allergic reactions – a small tortoiseshell, a bronchospasm, a Quincke's edema, an acute anaphylaxis.
