Urethane

Urethane - ethyl ether of carbamic acid.

For this purpose appoint inside on 1 g of drug from two to four times a day for one month. On a course of treatment from 60 to 120 g of drug leave on average. In one week after the beginning of administration of drug the quantity of leukocytes and their unripe forms decreases, and in two weeks the liver and a spleen decrease in sizes. Use of Urethane in veterinary science

In small dosages Urethane possesses the calming and somnolent action. In big dosages it causes an anesthesia with small deviations from cardiovascular system and breath in dogs and rabbits, without stage of motive excitement.

Does not affect horses and cattle even in big dosages.

Urethane is preferential applied as narcotic and a hypnagogue to laboratory animals (rabbits, mice, rats).

Apply to goats, sheep and dogs in a combination with magnesium sulfate in a dosage of 0,25 g of powder on one kg of weight of an animal to an anesthesia. In this case add the calculated drug dosage to solution of magnesium sulfate of 10%, wait for full dissolution and enter intravenously.

Intramusculary enter the following dosages:

  • To cats – 0,5-0,75 g;
  • To dogs – 0,3-0,5 g;
  • To hens – 1-2 g.

Intravenous dosages of Urethane make:

  • For dogs – 0,3 g;
  • For goats and sheep – on 0,25 g.

Storage conditions

Store powder in the dry dark place, in carefully corked glass jars.
