Mesothelioma

Description:

Mesothelioma — the tumor developing from mesothelium cells. It is epithelial fabric which is located over connecting fabric, covers or covers perigastriums: pleura, pericardium (cardiac cavity), peritoneum.

At first sight, apparently, that to a mesothelium nothing is terrible - it is quite dense fabric which cells very densely adjoin to each other. Actually mesothelial cells very sensitive, easily are exposed to destruction, substitution by cells of other types.

Mesothelioma — a tumor, as a rule, malignant, early metastasizes, widely infiltrirut adjacent fabrics.

Mesothelioma reasons:

Malignant mesothelioma (it the carcinosarcoma, an endothelioma still call) most often develops in a pleura, is more rare in an endothelium of a peritoneum and casuistic — in a pericardium. The reason of malignant regeneration of epithelial fabric — the contact with asbestos dust and smoking (a pleura carcinosarcoma), the same reasons plus wounds of an abdominal cavity and дисэмбриогенез lead to sarcoma of a mesothelium of a peritoneum and pericardium.

In development of this oncopathology  the big role of ionizing radiation, silicates, paraffin is noted; the virus nature of a disease is not excluded.

Mesothelioma symptoms:

The tumor which is localized in a pleura gives symptoms practically from the first stage: cough, thorax pains, pleurisy. But, as a rule, symptoms prinmiat for "cold",  treat as "usual" cough, write off symptomatology for chronic bronchitis or cough of the smoker.

At this time cancer cells quickly metastasize, and the tumor increases in sizes, squeezes a lung, worsens blood circulation that leads to progressing of pleurisy, emergence of an asthma.

Picture at a peritoneum tumor not clear, erased. Feeling of weight in a stomach of not clear localization, periodic instability of a chair, feeling of a lump in a dorsal decubitus. Then, with process progressing, there are pains, nausea, disturbances of a chair become constants, ascites develops.

  Fever, slight increase (not above subfebrile condition), but constant is typical for this pathology of any localization. Approximately in half of cases patients complain of  small joint pains, characterizing them as flying more disturbing in the mornings.

Treatment of mesothelioma:

Diagnosis of mesothelioma is quite difficult, and, considering rapid growth of a tumor and its aggression, the exact diagnosis is quite often made only by results of autopsy. The anamnesis of life, including with the instruction on the contact with asbestos or its production which was available in the past (availability of asbestos-cement materials in the house, accommodation near ATs of the plants or pits, etc.) has to guard always.

The combination of diagnostic procedures is necessary for diagnosis: X-ray analysis of a pleura or peritoneum, computer or magnetic resonance  tomography, laparoscopic survey (torakoskopiya,  paracentesis). At invasive diagnostic procedures the intake of fabrics for the purpose of carrying out a cytologic and histologic research is necessary.

Treatment of mesothelioma difficult, as a rule, multiple-pass, combined, includes chemotherapy, operational removal of a part of body, beam, a biotherapy. Tactics is chosen the doctor proceeding from a set of factors, including the general condition of the patient, a tumor stage.
