General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: spirit extraction from seeds of a horse-chestnut 1:5.

Excipients: ethanol.

The medicine reducing permeability of capillary vessels.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Medicine has venotoniziruyushchy, anti-exudative effect. Reduces concentration of lizosomalny enzymes therefore disintegration of mucopolysaccharides in the field of walls of capillaries decreases. Tincture reduces permeability of vessels, preventing filtering of low-molecular proteins, electrolytes and water in intercellular space.

Reduces transcapillary filtering and reduces peripheral hypostases, heavy feeling in legs, fatigue, tension, an itch, pain.

Pharmacokinetics. It is not studied.

Indications to use:

As symptomatic means in complex treatment of a varicosity and chronic venous insufficiency 3-4 classes on clinical International classification of chronic diseases of veins of the lower extremities (SEAR) which are followed by pain, heavy feeling and feeling of tension in the lower extremities, night spasms of gastrocnemius muscles, hypostasis of legs.

Route of administration and doses:

Appoint inside to food till 15-20 of tincture drops in a small amount of the cooled boiled water 3 times a day. Duration of a course is established individually, depending on efficiency and portability of therapy. Reception of medicine continues, on average, 2-3 months.

Features of use:

Use for children. Contraindicated to children up to 18 years.

Use at pregnancy and a lactation. Contraindicated.

Influence on ability to drive the car and to work with mechanisms. Medicine contains alcohol. At use in the recommended doses does not influence ability to drive the car and to perform the work demanding the increased concentration of attention and exact coordination of movements.

Precautionary measures. Medicine with caution should be taken at functional diseases of a liver, kidneys, alcoholism, a craniocereberal injury, a disease of a brain and at a concomitant use of anticoagulants.

In case of insufficient or unsatisfactory symptomatic effect within 4 weeks of treatment, it is necessary to recommend to the patient to consult at the doctor concerning other possible reasons of hypostases.

At sudden emergence of strongly expressed symptoms of venous insufficiency (especially on one leg) – hypostasis, skin discoloration, feeling of tension and heat, pain, it is necessary to see a doctor for an exception of a vein thrombosis of the lower extremities.

The ethanol content in the maximum single dose makes 1,6 ml.

At emergence of symptoms of a heart or renal failure it is necessary to see a doctor immediately.

Patients should observe strictly the additional medical measures appointed by the doctor, such as wearing compression medical jersey (golfs, stockings), compresses, a cool shower on area of the lower extremities, etc.

Side effects:

Possible side effects – gastrointestinal frustration, nausea, a headache, dizziness, an itch and allergic reactions. Frequency of their manifestation is unknown. One case of allergic reaction after reception of the medicine containing horse-chestnut extract is described. At the first signs of hypersensitivity (for example, an enanthesis) it is necessary to stop reception of this drug.

At manifestation of the side reactions which are not noted above it is necessary to see behind consultation a doctor or the druggist.

Interaction with other medicines:

Strengthens effect of anticoagulants.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to medicine components, pregnancy, the lactation period, age up to 18 years.

Overdose:

Saponins which contain in horse-chestnut seeds can promote at overdose to strengthening of the known side effect – feelings of nausea, and also can cause vomiting and a diarrhea. Concerning need of taking measures for elimination of these symptoms consult with the doctor.

Overdose symptoms. After consumption of a horse-chestnut the following symptoms of poisoning were observed: concern, severe vomiting and a diarrhea, a mydriasis, drowsiness, a delirium, in some cases – death in connection with paralysis of respiratory tracts in 24-48 hours.

Measures at overdose and counteracting means. As therapeutic means are recommended:

- if after reception of a large amount of drug vomiting is absent, it is recommended to carry out a gastric lavage (for example, 0,02% solution of potassium permanganate) and to accept absorbent carbon;

- in other cases the symptomatic treatment is carried out.

Storage conditions:

In the place protected from light at a temperature from 15 °C to 25 °C. To store in the place, unavailable to children. A period of validity - 3 years. Not to use after the period of validity specified on packaging.
