Ftalazolum, table 0,5g No. 10

General characteristics. Structure:

Active agent: 1 tablet contains - Ftalazolum of 500 mg;

excipients: potato starch, calcium stearate.

Pharmacological properties:

Ftalazolum is sulfanamide drug. Has bacteriostatic action. The main mechanism of action is caused by disturbance of synthesis in microorganisms of their growth factors – folic and dihydrofolic acids.

Indications to use:

Acute dysentery, chronic dysentery in aggravation stages, colitis, a coloenteritis, a gastroenteritis, for the prevention of purulent complications when carrying out operations on intestines.

Route of administration and doses:

At an acute form of dysentery the adult appoint: in 1-2 day – on 1 g of 6 times a day,
each 4 hours, in 3-4 day – on 1 g 4 times a day, each 6 hours, in 5-6 day – on 1 g 3 times a day, each 8 hours. The course dose makes 25-30 g. In 5-6 days after the first course of treatment conduct the second year: 1-2 day – on 1 g in 4 hours (at night in 8 hours), only 5 g a day; 3-4 day – on 1 g in 4 hours (at night – do not appoint), only 3 g a day. The general dose on the 2nd course - 21 g; at easy disease a dose it is possible to lower to 18 g the Highest doses for adults inside: one-time – 2 g, daily – 7 g. To children under 3 years drug is appointed at the rate of 0,2 g/kg of body weight a day; the daily dose is divided during the day into 3 equal parts accepted during wakefulness. In the specified dose drug is accepted by 7 days. To children 3 years are more senior appoint 0,4-0,75 g (depending on age) to reception 4 times a day. At treatment of other diseases drug is appointed by the adult in the first 2-3 days on 1-2 g by each 4-6 hours, in the next 2-3 days – in a half dose. To children appoint in 1 day at the rate of 0,1 g/kg of body weight a day, in equal doses each 4 hours with a break to night. In the next days appoint 0,2-0,5 g each 6-8 hours.

Features of use:

With care appoint the patient with a nephrosis, nephrite. During reception of Ftalazolum by the patient it is necessary to apply group B vitamins (thiamin, Riboflavinum, niacin) as in connection with oppression of growth of colibacillus synthesis of vitamins of this group decreases.

 Breast the doctor defines expediency of use of drug during pregnancy and feeding individually.

Does not influence ability to manage motor transport or other mechanisms.

Side effects:

The system side effects characteristic of streptocides arise seldom in connection with insignificant absorption. Suppression of growth of colibacillus are reduced by synthesis of vitamins of group B (thiamin, Riboflavinum, niacinamide) that can give a hypovitaminosis. Allergic reactions (rash, fever, agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia).

Interaction with other medicines:

Simultaneous use of Ftalazolum with salicylates, dipheninum, PASK leads to strengthening of toxic effect of phthalylsulfathiazole. Ftalazolum is not compatible to Oxacillinum (activity of Oxacillinum decreases), nitrofurans (the risk of development of anemia and a methemoglobinemia increases), to drugs of women's and men's hormones (functions of gonads are suppressed). Simultaneous use of Ftalazolum with Calcii chloridum and vitamin K reduces coagulability of blood.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to drug, a bazedova a disease, blood diseases, an acute hepatitis. Age up to 3 years. Pregnancy, feeding by a breast.

Overdose:

Strengthening of side reactions, nausea, vomiting. Therapy is symptomatic.

Storage conditions:

To store in the dry, protected from light place at a temperature not over 25 of 0C. A period of validity - 5 years.
