General characteristics. Structure:

Active agent: sodium пикосульфат in recalculation on anhydrous substance of 7,5 mg; excipients: methylparahydroxysodium benzoate, sorbitol (sorbite food), Acidum hydrochloricum 1M solution, the water purified.

Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics. Sodium pikosulfat-purgative. Under the influence of intestinal microorganisms it is hydrolyzed with formation of an active form which causes excitement of receptors of a mucous membrane of a large intestine and strengthening of its vermicular movement. Action comes in 10 — 12 h after reception.

Pharmacokinetics. After intake it is not soaked up from digestive tract and  is not exposed to hepatoenteric circulation.

Indications to use:

The locks caused by hypotonia and a sluggish peristaltics of a large intestine. Regulation of a chair at hemorrhoids, a proctitis, anus cracks. Preparation for surgeries, tool and X-ray inspections.

Route of administration and doses:

Inside with a small amount of water, before going to bed. Adults: an initial dose — 10 — 20 drops, at obstipations — to 30 drops. For children 4 years an initial dose of 5 — 8 drops are more senior. Depending on the gained effect I increase a dose at the subsequent receptions or reduce. The maximum daily dose for adults — 30 drops; for children — 15 drops.

Features of use:

 It is not necessary to apply daily without medical control more than 10 days. At children it is necessary to apply only on doctor's orders. Has no tastes therefore children can add to food. Pregnancy and the period of a lactation This about reliable and well controlled researches at pregnant women are absent. Long experience of use did not reveal negative influence of a pikosulfat of sodium on pregnancy. Uses of a pikosulfat of sodium in the I trimester of pregnancy it is contraindicated. In II and III trimesters of pregnancy (as well as when using other purgatives) use of drug is possible only on doctor's orders. The active metabolite and its glucuronides are not allocated with breast milk. Thus, drug can be used during breastfeeding.

Side effects:

Diarrhea, abdominal pains, dehydration, disturbances of water and electrolytic balance, weakness, spasms, lowering of arterial pressure.

Interaction with other medicines:

Increase in sensitivity to cardiac glycosides is possible. Glucocorticosteroids, diuretics increase risk of development of electrolytic disturbances. Germicides of a broad spectrum of activity reduce efficiency of sodium of a pikosulfat.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to any of drug components, intestinal impassability, the restrained hernia, acute inflammatory diseases of abdominal organs, peritonitis, abdominal pains (not clear genesis), bleedings from digestive tract, a metrorrhagia, cystitis, the expressed dehydration, a spastic lock, children's age (up to 4 years), pregnancy (the I trimester). With care of II and the III trimester of pregnancy, the lactation period.

Overdose:

Symptoms: diarrhea, dehydration, lowering of arterial pressure, disturbance of water and electrolytic balance, spasm. Besides, at chronic overdose development of ischemia of a mucous membrane of a large intestine, a secondary hyper aldosteronism, urolithiasis, defeat of renal tubules is possible. Treatment: gastric lavage, correction of disturbances of water and electrolytic balance, antispasmodics.

Storage conditions:

In protected from light and the place, unavailable to children, at a temperature not below 8 °C. Period of validity 3 years. Not to apply on expiry date.

Packaging:

Drops for intake of 7,5 mg/ml. On 15 ml in bottles of light-protective glass with a stopper a dropper. On 30 ml in bottles of light-protective glass complete with a dropper. Each bottle together with  the application instruction is placed in a pack from a cardboard.
