Lamikon (cream)

General characteristics. Structure:

Active ingredient: terbinafine;

1 g of cream contains a terbinafin of a hydrochloride in terms of 100% anhydrous substance of 0,01 g;

excipients: phenylethyl alcohol, paraffin white soft, oil mineral, cetostearyl alcohol, polyethyleneglycol (macrogoal) the 20th cetostearyl ether, propylene glycol, half-oxameasures 407, sodium hydroxide, the water purified.

Pharmacological properties:

Terbinafin is алиламин, has a wide range of antifungal action. Terbinafin in the corresponding concentration has fungicidal effect concerning dermatophytes, mold and some dimorphous mushrooms. Activity of rather barmy mushrooms, depending on their look, can be fungicidal or fungistatic.

Terbinafin specifically oppresses an early stage of biosynthesis of sterols in a cellular membrane of a mushroom. It results in deficit of ergosterol and to intracellular accumulation of squalene that leads to death of a cell of a mushroom. Terbinafin acts by skvalenepoksidaza enzyme inhibition in a cellular membrane of a mushroom. This enzyme does not belong to system of P450 cytochrome. Terbinafin does not influence metabolism of hormones or other medicines.

At external use drug is absorbed less than 5% of the applied dose therefore system exposure of a terbinafin insignificant.

At topical administration drug is practically not soaked up, quickly begins to work, shows efficiency at short-term treatment (7 days), the concentration of a terbinafin necessary for fungicidal action is present at a corneous layer of epidermis within 7 days after the treatment termination.

Indications to use:

The fungal infections of skin caused by such dermatophytes as Trichophyton (for example, T. rubrum, T. mentagrophytes, T. verrucosum, T. violaceum), Microsporum canis and Epidermophyton floccosum, for example, a dermatofitiya of feet, a trunk dermatofitiya, an inguinal dermatofitiya.

The skin candidiasis caused by sort Candida fungi (for example, Candida albicans).

Multi-colored deprive (Pityriasis versicolor), the caused Pityrosporum orbiculare (it is also known under the name Malassezia furfur).

Route of administration and doses:

To adults and children 12 years are more senior

Cream Lamikon is applied on skin by 1 or 2 times a day. Before putting cream it is necessary to clear and dry affected areas. Cream is imposed a thin layer on the affected skin and by adjacent sites and slightly rub. At the infections which are followed by an intertrigo of folds of skin (under mammary glands, interdigital, between buttocks, in inguinal area), sites with the applied cream can be covered with a gauze, especially for the night.

Duration of treatment depends on character and weight of a course of a disease.

Relief of symptoms is usually noted for several days. Irregular use or the premature termination of treatment can lead to a recurrence.

It is not necessary to adjust a dose for patients of advanced age.

Features of use:

Use during pregnancy or feeding by a breast. Experience of use of drug Lamikon to women during pregnancy is limited therefore during this period it is applied only in that case when the expected advantage for mother exceeds potential risk for a fruit.

Lamikon, cream, gets into breast milk therefore drug should not be used during feeding by a breast. It is necessary to avoid contact of the newborn with skin on which applied cream.

Ability to influence speed of response at control of motor transport or work with other mechanisms. It is unknown.

Children. Experience of use of drug to children aged up to 12 years is limited therefore this age category of patients is not recommended to use drug.

Side effects:

In sites of application of cream there can be erubescences, feelings of an itch or burning, however need of the termination of treatment in this regard arises seldom.

These manifestations should be distinguished from allergic reactions: the itch, skin rash (including violent), a small tortoiseshell are observed seldom, but demand drug withdrawal. Therefore in case of any side reactions it is necessary to see behind consultation a doctor.

Interaction with other medicines:

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to a terbinafin and to other components of drug.

Appropriate security measures at use.

Cream is intended only for external use. It is necessary to avoid hit of drug in eyes. At accidental hit of cream in their eyes it is necessary to wash out carefully flowing water.

Overdose:

The overdose by drug Lamikon, cream, is improbable because of low system absorption. If cream accidentally got into a stomach, it is necessary to cause vomiting or to wash out a stomach.

Storage conditions:

Period of validity. 2 years. Not to use drug after the termination of the period of validity specified on packaging. To store at a temperature not over 25 ºС. Freezing is not allowed. To store in the place, unavailable to children.
